And then society puts more standards on us queer people. Like how many straight men have used drag in movies or TV shows or the theatre? What Maddy said made me think of Dan Savage talking about how a lot of straight men think they have to base their identity on not doing or liking the same things women or gay guys do or like. That whole world is mostly forbidden and closed off. Thus half of the emails Dan gets are from straight guys (or their girlfriends) saying things like "I like X Y and Z, am I gay?" or "my boyfriend must be gay because he likes X Y and Z." It's all very circumscribed and sad.
