I personally really like Plane Jane because she’s SO over the top that, imho, it’s clearly a character choice. I feel like she came in willing to fully go there and create the kind of discourse that a good season needs, all while (seemingly) being able to totally brush off/handle all of the online criticism that’s coming with it. She seems like a producer’s DREAM, and she was seemingly getting along with all of the girls in Untucked totally fine, so I feel like she can’t be THAT awful irl. I’m very excited for a totally unapologetic villain that’s willing to be a villain and isn’t just someone unlucky enough to have the “villain edit” thrust upon them like Brita or Loosey

idk i feel like she tries too hard so it comes off like a random regina george gay who just forgot to exit that phase after 16 plus idk if you've seen last night's untucked but she did get called out for being not shady but *mean* for absolutely no reason which i agree with speaking of that, that's another issue. most of the time she's not shady, she's just straight up mean. shade has to be more funny than it is insulting, and her just being like "you're a pig and i'm stunning" out of nowhere is just like... tf?

With respect to Plane Jane, her attitude bothers me so much because I think there's a real problem amongst gay men specifically that they think being mean is a personality. It's something that I think has been reinforced by stereotypes of the "sassy gay man" through media. Its given gay men this idea that they can say the rudest things without consequence because its just "shade". (Saying this as a gay man myself incase that wasn't clear haha)

40:00 ish - So, I traveled from Chicago to Houston on Jan 12th, 2024. Worse flight experience of my life. Defrost…delays on there plane… worse turbulence of my life…. AND… the power on the plane shut off and I over heated and fainted on my way to the restroom…. Flight attendant told me to get out the bathroom bc I was ALSO was sick and puked. Horrrrrible. I saw a great comment underneath Valery's reaction to this episode that I think perfectly explains why Plane Jane seems really mean and bitchy in not a good way in comparison to other great villains of seasons past. They mentioned how the other girls in this episode didn't really volley with Jane and they never really returned the shade she was throwing. They kinda just allowed her to shit on them with no retaliation or consequence, which in turn made Jane out to look unnecessarily cruel and mean spirited. But I think in the next episode, when she gets to know the other shady bitches of the cast (Mirage and Morphine), there will be better banter and Jane will finally have other girls she can volley back and forth with.
