He's right about how the clients put pressure on the artists about what they want. Plus, you can't always know that what they brought you is a copy. There's only so much they can do if the client's asking for a nun smoking a cigarette and that's the only way they'll take it. It's important for the clients to understand that this art, and copying someone's work is copying someone's art, someone's own design and picture. They need to understand that and be more open with the artist they've gone to, talk to them to let the artist make the design their own in a way. I , honestly I don't know if there's a clear solution for this .
@missmortem6194 жыл бұрын
Reverse image search generally gives you a clue on what’s a copy and what isn’t. Generally people who want copies don’t bother to change anything up.
@queendiamond7704 жыл бұрын
Finally somebody that understand this instead of just saying "tattoo artists are such assholes, if I ask you to do a design I've seen on the internet you have to do it because I am the client". I personally can't redraw others' pictures because I've always been drawing anything that would come to my mind and if somebody ever asked me for someone else's piece I'd straight up refuse.
@joskuoraa56433 жыл бұрын
Sorry if this sounds stupid but I have hard time to understand why I can't get a specific picture. Why reinvent the wheel? If someone has designed an super awesome and cool tattoo, why can't I just take it? I am by no means saying that tattoo artists own version would be bad, I'm just saying that if there is alredy an awesome picture that I want on my skin, why would it be problem.
@missmortem6193 жыл бұрын
@@joskuoraa5643 because someone has worked very hard to create that custom piece for someone else. Which could have a very distinct reason for it. Most people go to custom artists to pay more and get a tattoo no one has. Then someone steals it??? That sucks for them. It’s not just about the artist.

As an artist (painter) Ive had the same thing happen with myself. I once painted a large bright coloured canvas as a commission for a children's area in a public space. sometime after I'm contacted by an 'artist' asking me for colour technical advice on said piece as someone has commissioned him to paint a copy. Annoyingly as well I fond out what the person who commissioned the copy was paying a decent price. ie I could have done him something for that same price. instead he ended up getting a really poor imitation of the original, which was the only 'good' thing to come from the whole stupid thing in that he got a bad painting because he was trying to cheap out and pay someone to copy

I designed my tattoo idea, and incorporated elements from pop culture shows and movies from my childhood. There is a whole lot of meaning in my design. It’s fine if nobody knows what it is when they will see it, but like there is meaning. I’m getting it on my birthday much later this year. I don’t want to ever see it on google images ever. So annoying, almost everyone shows their tattoo artist what tattoo they want. Whether it’s flash, an art piece, another tattoo. How often can people go to a tattoo artist and trust them to put their original style and piece on them for the rest of their lives. Most of my tattoos are original unpopular artworks I liked. One of them the artist put his own twist on it rather than what I wanted. I met one dude with one of my tattoos and we instantly became friends cause of how rare it was. The tattoos I have, that I hate the most are the ones the artist tried to add their own style to what I requested, cause now I got a style some dude I barely know likes and not what I like.
@effytraveler61552 жыл бұрын
Love this point of view. I mean no harm and need the tattoo artist for sure to put some of their style in it. My artistic skills drop at a point. The tattoos I saw online are few and nothing of what I want to show as inspiration. So I designed it myself.

As an artist “not a tattoo artist “ I’ve had people literally just hand me something and tell me to straight up copy it. I try to tell them no and convince them to change it up just even a little bit and they basically get all angry and scream about they are paying for it so it doesn’t matter. The one I straight up walked away from was a smoke shop that wanted to basically steal another stores exact layout and even name in another state. I reached out to the original shop and they were not associated at all. I straight up refused and walked away. $5,000 job. Was not worth the crap. They hired someone else and the store ended up getting closed and in a legal battle. It was hella messy. The artist that did it got black listed. They moved to a different state to try again. Just up and crazy.
