This one was a pleasant surprise for me. Had no plans on checking it out until my friend wanted to see it, and to say the least, the final act brought the movie to a place I never expected it to go. Extremely grotesque, brutal, and the prolonged blood-curdling screams, of course. That last 30 seconds literally made me gasp. It definitely sold it for me.

Yo Cody, I loved this film but I have to say that unfortunately the theater experience I had was pretty awful. Believe it or not, some lady brought her three children to this! These kids were probably between 7 and 12 years old. Who the hell brings kids to a movie like this? So these kids constantly get up and run down the stairs, switch seats, mom has to tell them to sit down and the worst part is that part at the end which is a close up of her screaming as you know was accompanied by the little boy laughing and the little girl saying "mommy what is she gonna do to the baby? She's mean".....dude I'm still shocked and adult would have that bad of judgment. Sorry rant over lol

That sounds awful :/ When I went to watch it there were only two other couples there. One couple was sitting behind me constantly coughing, and the other couple was a few rows in front of me, they kept talking loudly and making out, and when they weren't doing that the guy was on his phone... I could see his screen, he was exchanging nudes with some other girl -_-

Personally loved this movie from start to finish. I liked the ending too. Sidney Sweeny gave the best performance of her career. I loved the third act sm like she did what she did in the third trimester of pregnancy that’s so impressive. Saw this movie when I had just finished watching late night with the devil so both these movies were bangers to me. 2024 has started with some awful stinkers but these movies have started the good. I was invested from the first to the last scene of the movie. You can see the main character go from normal to crazy and on survival mode at the end. And how much anxiety that movie gave me 🙂↕️. Thanks for your thoughtful review and I'm right there with you about enjoying the slow burn of the first two acts. I disagree about the motivation behind the ending though. As a metaphor for the church's control over women's bodies, this was an abortion in a way that she was not allowed to have after being forced into pregnancy. It seemed like it had more layers to it which I appreciated. Great review.

Absolutely loved this film. I’m not a fan of religious horror myself and agree with you on the cliches. But its approach on social commentary here feels refreshing. This third act was also very much my Barbarian. Maybe it’s because of the marketing but, while a damn good movie, the third act/second half of Barbarian didn’t wow me like it did others. With immaculate I was engaged and found myself talking to the screen by the third act. This was an early screening and packed so my audience was engaged and walked out applauding. I didn’t care too much for the first two acts, one scene felt stolen from the original omen. But I didn’t hate it either. I’m actually gonna go to the theaters again soon for a rewatch to see how these first two acts fair out now that I understand and know the ending. Great review!

Overall this movie was just okay but hilarious at one moment and not scary. The minute the priest said this nail has the blood and tissue of Jesus Christ on it being part of your pregnancy. I bursted out laughing. So much is also borrowed from the terrible first Nun film and more. This subgenre is becoming self parody at this point. The ending also didn't take things far enough and kind of got afraid to truly go all in to make it truly disturbing.

This movie was really scary in concept, but execution was kinda meh. 6.5/10... Spoiler for the final scene! Turn back now you have been warned.... If what disturbs you is the character giving birth and then cuting the cord with her teeth, then yeah, i can see that. But if u dont like that she killed the baby, i dont see why thats off-putting...wasnt it revealed that the baby inside her was artificially put inside her and is sposed to be like a demon baby or the devil? The baby/monster wasnt even crying at the end so that conveys to the audience that it isnt human and we should not feel bad for it
