Home Free treated this presentation with a high degree of respect, it was very sobering and intentionally dwelling on those who have given all. Also, pointing out the desire for PEACE not war as those fighting are put into harm’s way by those who are making the decisions that take the lives others. Their video was well done, simple but very purposeful in the reflection of those who gave all and reflecting on those still serving. Thank You Home Free!!! ❣🎖🪖

It’s not an original. It’s by Dire Straits (from the Falkland’s War in the 80’s). Home Free did an incredible job. Loved the echoes and Tim and Chance looked ghost like in the windows. They released this on Veteran’s day in 2021 I think. Other songs where there’s no beatboxing, Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art. Good reaction!😍

My husband just retired from the military. Just so you know, we don't know if his retirement will come through on time, and yeah, we definitely don't get a say in anything. I'm not sure if people really know that. If retirement doesn't come through on time, we lose our house. I know it seems petty and something folks can shrug off, even me, because I'm a musician and I can laugh things off sometimes just because it makes me feel better, but then it always comes back to the fact that my hubs is a serviceman. And in the end, this is real life. I really love your reaction to this one. It's important. Thank goodness for Home Free and thank goodness for you guys. BTW I love the balls drop comment. Tim can drop the balls every time, and I'll be happy. Don't get me wrong. However, Adam Chance took this one to the limit for me. When he comes in up the octave, it's like a pipe organ when they all come in. I've sung a cappella, and that was the most glorious moment of the song, when we could all hit the chord just at the right moment. No sweeping up to the note. Here, with HF, nobody was sweeping up to a note. They just hit it all together, and it was magnificent, which is super hard to do when you're a singer. Sorry this was a long comment.

This is an excellent arrangement, originally done by Finnish acapella band, Club For Five, but Home free's version is superb. However, you absolutely MUST watch Dire Straits' original. So powerful and atmospheric; Mark Knopfler's guitar playing is masterful and takes the song to another level.

Home Free always pays appropriate respect in their covers--especially to the content! Their talent is amazing--and I LOVE their 5-part harmony❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. I know some see it as a "ghost"y reference but it strikes me as a reflection of the POW/MIA flag. We'll never know just how many of those met the same fate as the soldier of this song. 😥

I enjoyed your reaction. Keep going on your Home Free journey and you'll discover that Tim takes or shares the lead in quite a number of their songs, especially their originals, ie. So Long Dixie, Understand, Leave This Town, Might As Well Be Me and more. BTW Adam sang the high BGV throughout this hauntingly beautiful rendition. (He rarely solos but has done a lot of BGVs through the years.)

Adam Chance is a high3er voice, inj this song. He is the Bass Singer of his former Group. Street Corner Symphony. My personal opinion here, but I believe he is a good comparison to Tim. Not as Low, but close. He fills a lot of the Bass notes when Tim isn't there. Like MAYDAY. But, that is just my opinion Thanks and Great Post.

"You're in the suck fest". In the military we call it "embracing the suck" As far as the hair and nails, that is why they call it a "uniform" . Ideally everyone is supposed to be the same (not saying it is that way or has been in the past but, it is supposed to be) Up until recently, females were not allowed to have anything other than one piercing in each ear and males were not allowed to have any piercings (they weren't even allowed to have the holes) It has been relaxed a lot since then. They allow some head and neck tattoos now with a waiver and the piercing restrictions have been relaxed.

I'm disappointed, yet it was better than I thought it would be, and I like Home Free... Huh, you may say. Okay, so I have an unrealistic standard for any Dire Straits or Mark Knopfler song, that I hold any artist who covers one of their/his songs to, and they just didn't meet that standard. With that said, it was a very nicely arranged and performed song. I agree about liking that they didn't feel the need to add beat boxing or other things to this song. Generally speaking I love Home Free's harmonies, percussion, and other things they do in their music. Overall, good video!
