Immigrating to Sweden part 2 - Lunch with Kalle, Land Rover issues, fika and looking at properties

In part 2 of our week in Sweden, we have looked at a house, had a really nice lunch with Kalle, went for a fika and drove home not without problems...

Advice no 1 from us who came here 3 years ago. Start learning Swedish. Without the language it is impossible to get a job. Despite the fact we are British and almost everybody speaks English I couldn’t get a job for 1,5 year. We spent a lot of money because of that. I hope it will go better with you. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! We are already learning basic things here at home with the Duolingo app. And yeah my girlfriend already has a job which is great! 😁

Jag önskar er ett stort lycka till. Jag vill inte vara en glädjedödare men så enkelt är det inte med dessa människor. Jag är ursprungligen från Rumänien och har bott i Sverige i nästan 40 år. Svenskar beter sig mer civiliserade mot folk från väst Europa. Jag är ursprungligen från Rumänien och de kallar mig zigenare och tigare. Jag har blivit mycket illa behandlad överallt, på skolan på arbetsplatsen när jag hade tur att få ett arbete. Jag har studerat i Sverige från gymnasienivå många andra kurser som verkstadmekaniker, bagare, charkuterist och sist 8 år på universitetet. Jag är fortfarande arbetslös. Folket i Sverige, Bosnier, ungrare och svenskar håller fast vid sina sjukliga fördomar att vi rumäner är mycket dåliga människor. Tack vare dessa psykopaters fördomar har mitt liv blivit fullständigt ruinerad. Hursomhelst jag skulle aldrig bo i Norrland. Det skulle jag räkna som tvångs deportering. Ännu en gång önskar jag er lycka till. Ni är födda i rätt land och ni kommer att ha det bra i Sverige. ❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉

My experience is dutch people learn swedish very fast compared to many other immigrants including people from the EU. I think the languages probably are quite similar.

My parents, siblings and I came from nothern Finland because the adults needed jobs. I see myself as swedish but my heart is still in Finland. I love to visit my home country and relatives.

Thanks so much! I hope the fun stays :) Oh that's cool! I have once been to Finnish Lapland but that's a long time ago, but maybe again as it's closer when we are in Sweden. But if you are living there for 58 years I guess you are indeed Swedish ;). Yes it's nice to go back to places that you have good memories of from the past. Have a great weekend!

Näsåker, population 500 or thereabouts I guess. Still they have a big world music festival "Urkult", thousands of petroglyphs and some pretty nice nature, you could do worse.

@@lifeof_guy I grew up in the next village over and in Sollefteå but moved for work and military service and eventually university before this festival really took off, have been at the venue for other events though. Have done the moving abroad experience myself, ended up living and working in Brazil for a number of years before returning to Sweden a couple of years ago.
