Cut Immigration to 80,000m per year. That is equal to the 80,000 that LEAVE Australia each year. That is the ONLY NetZero result I'm interested in. Then BAN domestic home ownership to NON Australian citizens PERMANENTLY and give those that currently own Australian property 12 months to divest themselves of it. If just these 2 actions were taken, home ownership by Australians would be very possible within a few years and homelessness would be a thing of the past. But it would take COURAGE and we don't have Politicians with the "testicular fortitude" to actually do it.

Every country needs a level of good, vetted, skilled migration, where you qualify people on whether they like this country and its culture, and will contribute at sustainable levels. @@damnyiffers We need that too, but Australians dont have enough kids and our population shrinks, while our industries/businesses/technology moves faster than the almost generational amount of time it takes to train someone into becoming an expert in something, not to mention if they are even willing or intellectually capable of doing so. It takes time. Not to mention: 20 years ago everyone was told to get University degrees to "become educated and get ahead in life", and it did the exact opposite: increased debt, created a far more useless population made for offices, while significantly reducing the amount of tradesmen available, and now it costs $5000 to fix a gutter as a result... You want a reduced population but still expect society to fully function as it does today and progress from there, and it simply doesn't work that way. And because everything gets more and more expensive because our governments operate in a financial system where printing (and inflating) our money is a necessity, the locals simply arent incentivized to have kids as a result, and we are stuck in a loop.

There's nothing 'temporary' about students from China or India. They never take their degree home to benefit their home countries. Once they're in Australia and their term as a 'student' is over with, they'll either apply for permanent residency, claim asylum or hire a good lawyer. Just like with dissidents who say something mean about the CCP and suddenly need asylum, it's another form of backdoor immigration. That's on top of the hundreds of thousands who actually arrive legally, that the government has never had approval from the populace, to import. Remember this: external threats are minimal without internal traitors assisting.

That's true, and not only India and China. I know an international student from Japan, she has been living here for 8 years, has been abusing her student visa to get low paid jobs such as cleaning, housekeeping, waitressing, her working hours are far more than what she is allowed, and she gets paid in cash. Despite living here for many years, her English is still poor and she told me the other day that she is desperate to get a permanent residency and is willing to pay an Australian citizen to be her sponsor for partner visa. We reported her to the immigration, nothing has happened. She only goes to her college once a month (dodgy college) and been purchasing English test results, so she passed the English requirement. What a joke. Government indeed has strategy, however, those dodgy agents and international students definitely outsmart the government

Alot of people think that Liberals will come to the rescue and address the overcrowded cities and clogged roads. The Migration volume scheme was started by Howard Government in 2005 when the Business and Property demanded higher migration, alleging its solution to an aging population and skill shortage. Reality is that Infrastructures costs accounted a great amount of national GDP, with overdeveloped suburbs and increasingly dense areas. Lib/Lab are the party of Corporations, Property Lobbyists and Globalists, not the party of Australians.

We were wondering where suddenly all these very elderly people were suddenly coming from that don’t speak a word of English holding Australian pension cards and concession cards over crowding, and I mean over crowding with not a spare chair in the waiting room of health services like the Eye Hospital, Dental Hospital and on public transport? If you have lived in Australia for a life time you are going to speak some English. They all seem to need interpreters and don’t speak a word of English. Some migration system we have here with only qualified people immigrating to fill jobs. Are they all Doctors and Nurses?

Aboriginals lived on this continent for 40,000 years and never had a need or desire to let thousands of immigrants in, my point is that it’s possible to live in Australia and have ZERO immigration . The Aboriginals had a monoculture , all people were the same race so no racial problems , we now have a MULTI culture , so expect racial tensions in the future . A parallel can be seen in the situation faced by modern Australia and the dilemma of the Aboriginals of 250 years ago, when they were forced to accept an expanding human population and technology coming to their land. The stakes are higher now though as Australia’s neighbours ie. Asia and Africa have massive populations looking for somewhere to go. Australia is seen as a soft target.

As a tax paying resident I would like to see i migration drop to a trickle mainly to replace anyone who leaves the country. I believe this would immediately assist with the massive housing shortages and the excessive rents people are being forced to pay - supply and demand. International students, who are supposed to be temporary albeit it for four of five years, should only be granted visas if they stay with a genuine relative ... no need for accommodation for them as they would be catered for by family. Ideally we would get to the point where supply outstripped demand making it easier for Aussies to be able to (a) rent a place without being extorted and (b) be able to aim for home ownership.

I generally lean towards low levels of immigration but it is a complex and nuanced topic. Certainly the housing crisis we are in suggests we need to turn down the immigration tap for a while.

Time for a Royal Commission in immigration. We Aussies love em on every pointless issue. Let's have one on immigration, find where the corruption is, who's making $ who's losing $.

Unfortunately Australian politicians suffer from the “If I didn’t think of it then it’s not a good idea” syndrome. As soon as Peter Dutton said he was cutting immigration there was zero chance of Albo doing it.

It took a generation to get here so it will take just as long to fix. Labour isn't willing to make adult decisions and.the LNP solution of selling public assets will only drive more inflation. The greens are too self absorbed and incompetent to even conceive of solving problems.

Immigration/multiculturalism only works in "new" countries like australia, canada and brazil. But even then it needs to be controlled, not like how they are going over board in australia. Immigration should be 100k people at most. And the immigrants should be spread through out australia, including the country. That way they assimilate
@Hudpix16
@Hudpix16 4 ай бұрын
I think the problem is the immigrants do not want to assimilate. And the government doesn’t do anything about it. It’s not just the language. All these Indians coming here, they don’t give a crap about Australia. They know they need English for work but that’s about it. Outside they just hang out with their own people eating their own stuff etc. they only come here for the lifestyle. Zero interest in Australian culture, traditions etc.

Greens: immigration doesn't cause a housing shortage. normal people: What's the limit then? What if ten million people arrive per year? Greens: Nope, just build more houses. Greens: reducing immigration is racism normal people: What if immigration was ten million a year and people wanted to reduce it? Greens: Nope that's racist

Yes dear, I require a very large Mansion or Palace with only appropriate people living there! 😏 Even Stephen Miles broke under the enormous strain! It should be obvious that Australia can afford to be more selective, everyone wants to take advantage of our welfare, health system, environment! 🤨 Hey Greens, it takes the loss of two trees at least to build a house or unit block, etc! 🤤

food security is an important cosideration .Australia is mostly desert and eveyrbody wants to live on its green outer rim. We dont have the fertile lands capable of supporting a population like America or Europe. Population is the biggest stress on a countries natural resources and people have to realize that you can be anti immigration without being a racist

I don’t. If you don’t like it in your country fix it. Why is it our duty to have to give you jobs and accommodation? Not the lucky country anymore. And if you come at least have the decency to integrate and learn the language, not segregate yourself within your community and don’t give a rat’s ass about the country that’s welcome you.
