Before that, we never let more than about 40,000 in each year. Some even thought that was too much. Some organisations are putting the real population at about 80 million or more. Totally agree. I can think of no other reason for mass immigration other than borrowing against population growth. Stop mass UNCONTROLLED immigration and most other problems will DISAPPEAR. The problem with borrowing this way is 'boat' people and student visas(and all their dependents) don't work,therefore no tax or NI being paid against the borrowing and the country goes further into debt, a massive problem since 1999, when Gordon Brown sold off GB gold reserves for cheap. The books have been cooked ever since, to make them look good.😮😢

Tony Blairs Labour party's obsession with multiculturalism and record amounts of mass immigration changed Britain forever, this Tory government have followed the same pattern, and it looks like the next Labour government under Starmer and Rayner will continue to do the same. Between both parties this could add up to about 40 to 45 years of record numbers of immigrants coming to Britain each year to live, nothing anywhere near this in the history of the British Isles has even come close to this level of immigration. I give England about another 20 years, Wales, Scotland and N.Ireland maybe a bit longer before the indigenous British population will be the minority population.
