A Shillelagh is not a mere stick... First the "heavy" end often had been hollowed first, then filled with molten lead, giving some extra weight. Also added some ferrules, to make it more durable. These modifications made it a similarly effective bludgeouning weapon, as a warhammer entirely made of iron... In capable hands, of course.

This story caught my attention immediately and refused to let go until the end. No small part of that is due to the narrator's voice. The man has some skills for sure!!!! I ignored everything else and couldn't do anything other than listen. Whoever wrote this story knows their stuff. More from this author please. It doesn't have to be this storyline, although I absolutely wouldn't object. I'm more than happy with more of their very obvious creative genius, wherever that takes them. There's an old joke where i live about two deer and a hunter. A young and an old deer graze and the young one sees a hunter climbing up a raised blind (that's what the dictionary tells me it's called in english). The young one warns the elder about that. Old deer takes a look and says, no worries i know him. Hunter loads his rifle and points it towards them. Young deer is frightened and tells the older. Older deer looks laughs and says no worries. The rifle fires, they heer the whistelling of the bullet going way over their heads. The hunter curses and cycles his rifle and takes another shot. that one impacts way to the side of the two. The next one to the other side, one over them again and another one. The older deer already concentrating on grazing again while the younger starts to laugh. Hahah, now we are safe, the hunter has lost his mind, he's climbed down and picks stuff up from the ground.Tthe older deer suddenly looks up and says "Now it gets dangerous, run, run, run, he's going to throw rocks at us!" Doesn't translate well, but you get the point of it.
