@NinjaStyle I wasn't there and I didn't know the guy, but I like to think Eyedea probably took it in stride. Battle rap is a game of improvised lyrical skill and creativity, which just happens to take the form of colorful insults. It's sort of expected that the competitors understand this and can shake hands after the battle without taking any of it personally. I do think it was a cheap shot though, like a groin shot or an eye poke in an MMA match.

God this brings back memories. I remember I used to like Immortal years ago, talking probably 2003, and I was on BearShare downloading shit by him. I stumbled upon this rap battle, that was unnamed, and I completely thought this unknown dude destroyed IT. The quality was complete shit and I had a hard time figuring out his name, which I figured out to be Eyedea (although I searched for Idea first). That was the first day that I completely stepped away from IT's music and fell in love with E.

love both these guys. but you cant compare them. Immortal technique is a brilliant rapper, has amazing vocabulary and political. Eyedea on the other hand wasnt really a rapper just an alround musician with very profound lyrics in his songs and words that are powerful. Both are legends but in their own way

@emceeC100 go pick up the album By The Throat by Eyedea and Abilities. Dude laid his heart out on that album, and you can feel every struggle he was dealing with. Life is complex, and what he was going thruogh and his views on the world were very complex. He could have easily written a novel. He, Sage Francis, and P.O.S all deserve more respect than they get. I'd love to see Eminem try to handle any of the topics that they spit about and sound intelligent at the same time.

@RyanGiggsOBE Not trying to be all technical and shit. I think you meant to say was he wasn't "just" a rapper, not he wasn't "really" a rapper. He was first a rapper then decided to jump and experiment with other genres. I think it also comes down to when you discovered Eyedea. I grew up watching the Blaze Battles and Scribble Jam, never got into the new stuff. So you can see how I regard him more as a rapper vs. someone who'd catch onto his later work and see him more as an eclectic artist.
