When Joe had his mask and jaw, nose cheeks and the flesh of his face ripped off. He essentially mimics his half skeleton appearance when wearing the mask. Which may not have been intentional but I think gives Joe the more iconic and ironic death. I think he was close to death and knew it and maybe welcomed his end at the hands of Furiosa. He was in bad shape since his opening scene and looked to be bleeding from the inside when they showed his mouth opened for that split second showing his mouth and teeth covered with blood, like he been hacking it up constantly and had been non stop until he knew his eventual successor would be one of his own sons that would be born with no defects to carry on the god like image.

Nah Mad Max is pretty realistic in most senses of how long humans live and the injuries they can sustain. Also, most people don't realize the "apocalypse" hasn't been that long ago, with Mad Max being around before it even happened. The series at first didn't have a wasteland/apocalypse center to it, just a very collapsed society, it was one of the later movies that only HINTED that there were nuclear explosions.

From this I can conclude the immortal John(Joe Moore ) was born in the 40s of the 20th century in Sydney he started his military career in the mid-60s He certainly participated in the war in Vietnam as an Australian lieutenant towards the end of the 70's, it took part in the oil war that Iran and Saudi Arabia would start as an Australian major in the Saudi side where he will learn a lot about warfare in the desert But the oil war will get out of hand when the USSR sides with Iran And this will cause a local nuclear war with Saudi Arabia and Israel when Iran will receive tactical nuclear warheads from the USSR and then the immortal Joe will be hit by a nuclear explosion but will survive in the ruins of Baghdad but his own lungs will be quite damaged and because of that he has to breathe artificially and his body will have burns, he will be flown to Australia for treatment a few months before the USSR and the USA.....

He wears that mask because it looks cool. He became God of the Wasteland by being badass, that's how all writing is done now. Easy, and not an 19 minute video

It's odd people see him as a villain. If this was a civilized world certainly. But in a post apocalyptic world, he is probably a better leader than most. limited resources, constant warfare, yet his people live fairly well, food, water supplies, they have a standing army to protect themselves.

Radiation poisoning usually involves anaemia to a degree, so naturally pale skin would be a part of that too. Radiation can also affect tissue strength too, so his lungs might have suffered due to it. I'm fairly sure that it's just death-metal poisoning really though. Too much death metal... it can do stuff to you. XD

Joe felt like a character George Miller made in spite of himself. The entire movie kind of did. The Furiosa film really showed how much of a one-off masterpiece Fury Road was. Dementus is just more incredibly-dated Mad Max 2 nonsense, and the whole prequel reeks of 40-year-old storytelling sensibilities. Joe transcended Mad Max and gave us a true villain worthy of a real hero.

Fact about the citadel it is built over a huge lake burried under ground and water pumps drill under the dirt and get water also it was originally a mountain but carved out and it was created by ex military men and their families that where similar to the people at the oil refinery in road warrior

One thing i noticed about immortan joes "outfit" is that there are several engine parts that are incorporated. The most obvious are the filters on his mask that come from the respirator he uses to breathe, but some others ive noticed are a spark plug hanging from the right side of his chest next to the chains. My favorite however is under his clear protective "armor". It looks like motor oil going around his muscles to help define them. Its almost as if he was designed to be a living motor. Which would certainly go well with the theme of these movies
