The director even said that Mad Max films past the original, could be viewed like campfire retellings of old tales. Which could explain details like Max not seeming to have aged, when he should actually be closer to Joe's age, since we know the original Max was around pre-apocalypse. It could be that Max is just like James Bond and simply doesn't age, but it could also be that all the legends of 'The Road Warrior' this mythical relic of the old world, wandering the wasteland to slay the wicked, protect the virtuous and then vanish without a trace; have all coalesced into a single figure, when it reality these films "truth" may have involved multiple different people who have just been rolled into Max's legend. Plus even in the Bond version where it is all the same Max who simply doesn't age, Max gives his name in a single scene (to only a small group of people), reveals almost nothing about his past, displays incredible skills & then vanishes almost as soon as the battle is won, having contributed to massively changing their society in just a few days. Such a person would not take much help to slip into legend, especially since for the inhabitants of the citadel, there's not much more to go than that. They know nothing of the events of films 1-3. To them Max came from nowhere, helped to completely change all their lives (including unveiling the corpse of their former god-king) & then simply disappeared forever.

It's difficult to overstate the greatness of the Mad Max universe. I feel sorry for people who wrote off Fury Road for ideological reasons, no other reboot has been so true to the source material, both in style and substance. I hope we can squeeze another Mad Max film or two out of George Miller, and that if another artist takes the helm, they stay true, rather than market driven.

Here's an idea. All the old world's knowledge is stored on a (still fucntioning) internet server in a mythical place known as 'the cave of knowledge) and watched over by a self-proclaimed tribla warlord or king who hold the key to rebuilding civilisation again.

Mad Max Fury Road is a far-future post-apocalyptic telling of the adventure that Mad Max really had on the Fury Road. Great job. I particularly enjoyed how you created a concrete world. I just stumbled upon this, so I apologize for the very late input. A few personal notes, though: - 4:28 White pigment on the War Boys/War Pups: Production notes may have stated that they're the "uniform" of Immortan Joe's army, and weaved into film canon as emulation of their leader/god. However, I think, instead of dye, it's actually body paint meant to protect them from the harsh post-Apocalyptic sun out in the Outback. I only postulated this because of a similar motif in the Ghost Clan of the videogame Rage (2010) as well as on the character Scrooloose (played by Rod Zuniac) in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (1985). All three may have been inspired by Aborigine body paint (which is actually more ceremonial in purpose and less SPF 50). Another point that may supports this is that neither of Joe's sons, the techs, his wives, or Imperator Furiosa were required to cover the bodies in white pigment. It may be because they spend most of their time protected from direct sunlight. - 6:05. That they spray chrome paint specifically on their mouth, with their lips pulled back to expose their teeth, is in emulation of front grills found on luxury, vintage, and "pimped-out" cars. As you mentioned, much of Immortan Joe-based belief system (and Max Max lore, for that matter) revolves around cars.

Ancient Egyptians had the cult of Ra or "the sun god" and Pharaohs were a direct emanation of it. Like most ancient cults there was no conception of "hell" but only of "paradise" which was mostly figured like having access to the "superior world" of the gods who themselves were seen as families with various hierarchies among them, the same for ancient Greek and Roman cults which proposed a number of "greater" and "lesser" gods. It's only roughly 500 years later that a monotheistic cult like Christianity, modelled on older Hebrew beliefs, introduces the concept of "hell" as a systemic part of the supposed "world"...until then mythological punishments by beasts or monsters were actually conceived as punishment but there was no belief of an actual determined place where "bad people" would inevitably end for eternity. This is a Christian concept and it's fear probably is the base of the cult's vast economic success.

Spartan A111, there was some obscure lore in 40k (retcon'd away) that there where supposedly 3 Dark Ages in humanity's history before the Golden Age of Man then eventually Great Collapse then Age of Strife who says this could be one of them.

It still annoys me that Max's car, the Interceptor, got destroyed. That is an iconic car and part of the Mad Max legend. He should of driven off in the sunset in it.
@bajscast2 жыл бұрын
It got destroyed in Mad Max 2 as well. It's actually a very minor aspect of the overall story - he only uses it in the end of Mad Max 1, it's destroyed halfway through Mad Max 2, it doesn't appear in Mad Max 3, and in Mad Max 4 it's around at the start and then later modified and destroyed again

It doesn't look to bad in Fury road, at least to Road warrior. If you watch the scene where it gets recked you can see that it doesn't get completely destroyed. It just falls on its side and the flames from the disintegrating Mercedes hides it from view

My name is Max. My world is fire. And blood. Once, I was a cop; a road warrior searching for a righteous cause. As the world fell, each of us in our own way was broken. It was hard to know who was more crazy. Me... or everyone else. Here they come again. Worming their way into the black matter of my brain. I told myself... they cannot touch me. They are all dead. I am the one who runs from both the living and the dead. Hunted by scavengers. Haunted by those I could not protect. So I exist in this Wasteland. A man reduced to a single instinct: survive. Just listened to the soundtrack to Fury Road...pretty high-octane stuff...Blood Bag has to be my favorite...definitely gets your adrenaline pumping, listening on a good round system with the volume up!

I kinda wonder about the ending for Fury Road. Sure, Immortan Joe ruled with an iron fist, but something tells me he was also a necessary evil that kept order where it was needed. I mean, I don't know about everyone else, but wasting water like that is gonna dry the reserves pretty quick. Almost like Furiosa is the real villain for dooming literally EVERYONE LEFT.
@addisonwelsh Жыл бұрын
There were some other bits of lore released that explain that they aren’t keeping the water running 24/7. Also, the Citadel eventually became the heart of a thriving society, and the story of Fury Road is actually something of a founding myth to that nation

Hmm...you know "he rationed water and kept some semblance of order" is not really a valid counterpoint to "he's a psychotic, bloodthirsty rapist". He's evil for the same reason any dictator is evil, all dictators keep order for their own ends, but they do so only so they may do horrible things to others. Don't rationalize tyrants just because the world's gone to shit, or you'll soon find the same excuses work in our world as well.

Immortan Joe was a frail old man with a frail kingdom, who was wasteful with his resources and irrational with his subjects, his rule crumbled as soon as they dragged his sickly dead body and exposed him for the fraud he was. There was no loyalty, only bribery, no respect, only fanaticism. We can only speculate about what happened after the movie ended, but either way, Furiosa would make for a stronger ruler, she commands respect, she doesn't need to hide behind myth, she has accomplished real things.

@@bandawin18 five months late but, there was a tie in comic that takes place after the events of the movie with a former War Boy veteran telling tales of how the Citadel was seized by Joe from the previous owners, the origins of the War Rig, how Nux became a War Boy, and how Furiosa planned to betray Joe and steal his five breeders. It's really interesting cause it also tells how Max got his Interceptor back after "Beyond Thunderdome" and who that little girl was that he had seen in his hallucinations seen throughout "Fury Road" and why they were happening.
