Glad you found it useful Caitz! 100% during Covid it's super difficult to know which accommodation to go for when you can't visit. Even if you don't end up at these specific accommodations, hopefully this gives you a good idea of what you get for certain prices in London! xx

Holy shit. I dont want to sound patronising here, but damn that is paying alot of money for very little apartment. How normal is it to be living in these "dorms"(?) etc, in comparison to renting private apartments (shared or not)? And is the latter more normal for master's students? If you do choose to rent privately, whats a normal price for this a month? Thanks again for the great video Imogen:)
3 жыл бұрын
I experienced both (living in a small student room and in a shared flat). To be honest, living in such a tiny space can be hard, especially during a pandemic/lockdown. In terms of budget, living in a shared flat was actually more expensive for me than living at Urbanest atm :) Price really depends on the location (zone 1 or not central), the size of the flat, etc :)
@djmagzbtd3 жыл бұрын
@ Thanks for your response! Can you give some examples of average prices for a flat «better» than dorms, in 1) central (zone 1?), and 2) not so central (zone 2?). I presume zone 2 entail still in London but with public transport of 10-15 minutes to LSE etc.Thanks!
3 жыл бұрын
@@djmagzbtd I suppose it depends on how many flatmates you will share your flat with :) I paid £300/week (without bills) for a flat that was around15-20 min away from LSE by walk, I lived there with a close friend :) However, I know some people who pay around £250/week for much modern places (but there are three in the flat). I think going to LSE from Zone 2 takes a bit more time than 15min by public transport but it's still manageable :) I personally preferred to pay a more expensive rent and not use public transportation at all to go to uni :)
@ImogenWhite3 жыл бұрын
100% agree with Amelie, it really depends where you're renting because you can get a lot more for your money the further out you go but you then have to pay for transport to get into uni so it's really a case of swings and roundabouts I guess!
@abbieg39083 жыл бұрын
This has completely put me off studying at either LSE or KCL (where I have applied). The price of living and accommodation (which is TINY) is ridiculous - it's unaffordable. There's a reason LSE has a reputation for attracting incredibly rich students who can afford nicer accommodation (because of the bank of mum and dad). I've been offered a place at Cambridge which is thankfully much cheaper in terms of accommodation.

Urbanest looks wonderful! However I'm scared I won't be able to make friends there, is it a popular accommodation amongst LSE students and is it sociable??
@ImogenWhite3 жыл бұрын
Urbanest is certainly a popular accommodation- although it's maybe not the most social halls as the flats are quite small. It's also quite popular with postgrads and international students who may not be as sociable. However, that being said it can be a really social halls, it just depends on who you meet Alisha!

The Urbanest Westminster Bridge's building looks like Castiglioni (A Bocconi's residence). The room and the bathroom are so small tho, and that's a shame as it's the only negative thing I have to say about this hall

Hello. Amelia's room is nice, but it's a little small. as a result, enough for a student. The best part is in the center of the city . I can see the eye of London .Of course, the room fee is a little expensive for me. The building where Mofei is staying is very historic and close to everywhere.Are there single rooms? Hannah's room is nice, too. It's a very useful and beautiful video. Thanks. See you.
@ImogenWhite3 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video Hyde! There are definitely pros and cons to all the rooms - most single rooms in central London are at about the £200/£220 a month mark so these are pretty representative price wise unfortunately!

Gonna firm today! Was wondering if it's true that the majority of people do not get access to a kitchen at bankside?
@ImogenWhite2 жыл бұрын
Nooo! Everyone has access to a "snack point" which is basically just a kitchen without an oven! You'll have a fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and hob. Once you've firmed you'll need to wait 48 hours to book accommodation on Hallpad!

I live in Tokyo, but feel the rent in London is outrageously expensive.. How students can manage to make a living.
@ImogenWhite3 жыл бұрын
Honestly it's not a cheap city to live in! We do have student loans here in the UK which help towards the rent but often they don't cover it all and students have to make up the rest of their rent and living costs!

Hi, it’s mid-April and I’ve still not firmed LSE as I’ve been unsure. Do you think if I firm now it’s too late as many of the most sought-after halls will be full now?
@ImogenWhite2 жыл бұрын
Hi JJ, Congratulations on your LSE offer!! Lots of people have not received offers yet, so there still should be some good accommodation left in sought-after halls. What hall are you thinking of? Bankside is often the most popular hall but it has lots of accommodation.
