High Holborn please, that would be great. I’ve heard it’s the best location, best roof for views and was the most competitive place for undergraduates to get a place before they made it predominantly postgraduates back in 2017

Hey there! I lived in High Holborn in second year and I wouldn't recommend it. It is very close to campus / has a great location but it is also very expensive for such a small room and a non-catered hall. I would 100% recommend Bankside on the other hand, where I stayed in first year! You get a better value for your money and the rooms are very spacious. Hope that helps!

Hi, I've been watching your videos for a while now and just got an offer to study geography with economics at lse. I was just wondering is geography considered a 'hard' academic subject at uni? I love it at a level but I really want the colouring in jokes to stop lmao. Also how are the lecturers on the course, are they friendly and helpful? Finally, I've heard about the academic mentor you get at lse... how helpful are they? Thanks so much ❤️
@ImogenWhite
@ImogenWhite 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Ahh congrats gal! I know how agonising the wait for an offer can be and how much effort goes into an application so you should be super proud of your offer!! Geography is the butt of quite a few jokes at LSE (along with management lol) but it is challenging in terms of the difficulty. Any degree from LSE automatically has quite a good reputation tagged along with it and Geography at LSE actually ranks 2nd in the world or the UK (I think - I'm not 100%) on the exact details of this. The lecturers and class teachers are super friendly and helpful - they're really accommodating and really are lovely. I'm ngl I have an academic mentor but I've only spoken to her twice this year. I think they're as helpful/ unhelpful as you want depending on how much you actually use them. You can book office hours with them at any time if you have questions but for the most part you only really meet with them a few times a year. Hope this helps and congrats on the offer!! Hopefully see you round campus in Sep! x

I’m moving into garden halls self catered soon, my contract starts on September 11th but I don’t need to enrol for uni until the 26th and I don’t have a clue when I should move in. I don’t want to get there too early and be alone but I also don’t want to get there too late and be the odd one out. Can you help???
@ImogenWhite

Move in ASAP as there will be lots of other people there especially with London being so busy at the moment with all the ceremonial events around the city.

@ImogenWhite

Oooh gosh, with geography/ data science tbh you can go into any sector really. Most people I reckon probably go into private sector jobs but geography degrees do also lend themselves to public sector too!

Hi Imogen! I love your videos. I have just been offered a place at LSE and I would like to ask a question about Passfield since you are there. I want to select a twin room with a private bathroom that I will share with my roommate. I couldn’t see the that room in the 360 view online. Those rooms exist right? And, are they spacious? Thank you soo much.
@ImogenWhite
@ImogenWhite 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely Alex. This is definitely an option but there are only 4 en suite double rooms available in the whole building and 80 doubles that aren't en suite. I don't actually know what they look like because I haven't been able to explore the whole building this year due to Covid so only know my corridor and there isn't one there. I would advise trying to book the double with en suite but also being happy to compromise on the double with shared bathroom if possible as the bathrooms are kept very very clean!

Can you show the catered side of garden halls pls? Also in International Hall, I know there are families and couples as well but do we get to have the single student accommodation on a separate side or floor or is it all the same?

Hi Safiyah, There are a couple more halls I want to do but obviously it's Easter break at the mo but I'll try and get the last few done in Summer! I actually don't know the answer to your final question I'm afraid and I'm not sure any of my friends would be able to help - best thing to do is to email LSE Accommodation and they'll be able to better answer this question!

Hey again Imogen, I just now got an answer to my application to LSE. Sadly, I only got on the waiting list. However, Im not quite sure how to interpret this. Hope you can help. "Our selectors have given consideration to your application for the MSc in International Political Economy (M1UW) but as the programme has reached its quota they are not able to offer you a place at this time. Your application has however been added to the programme reserve list.".... and so on about they will notify me if places open up. Does this mean that I simply applied too late and I wouldnt have got in no matter how good my application was? Or was my application just sub-par and only worthy of the reserve list? Thanks!
@bobchisler7179
@bobchisler7179 3 жыл бұрын
So when you’re waitlisted at LSE especially this time of year for nearly all MSc programs it normal means you get met their minimum requirements to get in, however aren’t of the quality that they would like the course to have. So they are still making offers to other people who are of that standard academically/career wise, however they will take you if they have too if the time comes if people either do not accept the offers or not as many people do not apply as predicted. Additionally, LSE for some MSc programs take on a large percentage of waitlisting students, so there’s no telling how close or behind you are to getting the offer ever, as waitlisting is their was of insuring themselves financially, not your education. LSE do have informative pages online around the decision to waitlist applicants, or you could always email that program administrator.
@fvrgrggggrh7448
@fvrgrggggrh7448 3 жыл бұрын
True, 4 of my friends last academic year received waitlisting from the government department. Non of them ever got offer and off the waitlist. Like you said, it’s the universities way of guarteeibg there money, work from the top of the waitlist to the bottom to fill the course. It is smart, but seems to make a mockery of students that have been wasted whom think they have a shot
@fvrgrggggrh7448

Hey, which halls would you say are the most social? I was looking at Westminster for the en-suite rooms and self catering
@ImogenWhite
@ImogenWhite 3 жыл бұрын
Just from what I've heard and my own personal opinion I would say the LSE owned halls are maybe slightly more social as they attract fewer international students and postgrad students who sometimes keep themselves to themselves a bit more!

Hi, can I ask some questions about Lse? I'm interested in LSE's Faculty of Economics or Business Administration or the combination of both of them. Also, Im in the first year of ib. 1. What grade did you get in order to apply to lse, and was that A-level or ib or others? (personally, I study ib diploma) 2. How does the student manage their financial stuff, including accommodation and school fees? Because I live in this country due to my parent's job but I dont have uk citizenship so my parents will have to pay international fees, not home fees. 3. Do you have any advices for me to get the offer from LSE? Sorry for many questions, but I need to know them. Thank you
@ImogenWhite
@ImogenWhite 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Of course you can ask: 1. I got A, A, A at A level but I think the IB requirement for my specific course is 38 points with 776 at higher level. However, this does vary from course to course so the best thing to do is to look at the specific requirements of the degree programme you're interested in. 2. I have a student loan as I am a UK student but I believe LSE does offer bursaries and loans to support international students who otherwise wouldn/t be able to attend. 3. I have a whole video on how to get an offer called 'how to get into LSE' so be sure to give that a watch! Hope this helped a bit with your questions!
