Kirk... The man who fixed my swing... Keep it up!

I worked very hard on this move during the golf school in early March. I have never hit the ball better and even with limited flexibility I was able to make solid impact. The drill getting the hips turned and front leg straight helped getting my lead shoulder up and trailing shoulder down. This drill is great and Kirk is simply the best!

I would agree. Of course this can change, and different people react differently, but Kirk's approach has been the ONLY one that has allowed me to achieve some forward shaft lean and get the ball in the air. I'm a new member to his site (been following for a while) and was not going to mention the "wall drill", but since Kirk did......for me the key has been separation. If I start twisting my pelvis around before I get the club all the way back (regardless of how long the swing is) and then let the torque between my shoulders and pelvis take the club around (WITHOUT involving my arms and hands, which has been my problem) I get the best club speed. And if I keep my wrists loose I will end up with decent lag and with my hands a bit forward at impact. Again, the key for me is to almost get into impact position BEFORE the club starts down, I can feel that torque. Another issue, subtle but important, (IMO, of course) is that while my practice swings look good, as soon as I try to actually hit a ball I can lose that forward lean UNLESS I make sure the club head is aligned correctly when I'm in impact position. If I don't then I will try to come through impact with the club head open but my "little golfer" will force me to close it by slowing my lead side down, destroying shaft lean. Correcting that problem will mean, at address, that the club head appear slightly closed. Sorry for the length of this post but I've been practicing in my basement for months now and am gratified to see SOME progress.

Good video. I spent this past winter changing my swing with good results. I thought i would mention that Mike Malaska has videos taking about 'impact and back'. Your might want to look into that as an addendum to things you have talked about with sequencing the swing. Just a thought. Keep up the great work. Your videos have truly greatly improved my game. Thank you

Kirk, thanks again for another great video. On a full backswing do you have your weight centered or more to the front or back? I’m having some good success with your method but I need improvement on getting my pelvis turned ahead of my torso and arms at impact.

Weight moves naturally to the right on the backswing, and then transfers to the front foot during the transition. My drills teach you how to do this without having to think about it a lot.

Hey Kirk, thanks for the lesson the other day. I suppose this is the video you were talking about? I'll start making V1 swing videos when the weather permits and send them through for review.

Hi Morton, Yes this is the video I mentioned. Hope for better weather for you soon!! I am now up in Cincinnati for a three day school this weekend and it is set to be quite cold. My coldest school ever! 35 to 44 degrees F tomorrow which is 2 to 6 degrees C.
