Cruising down the freeway today, south to Newcastle,a speed queen hired me through a mutual acquaintance,to drive her to get a fortnights supplies. She was edgy and scared of this driver she didn't know and I suppose playing Throbbing Gristle's Blood On The Floor wasn't helping, she was nearly climbing the wall, trying to get out the window.I took the CD out,a mix of punk, avante garde and art rock. And I put this disc of Anton and Tess Park, with some BJM mixed in.This was the first song, she calmed down and started to air-drum to the beat,by the time the player got to Memory Camp,a favourite of mine, she was totally hooked to the music. She thought Anemone was a christian song,I couldn't stop laughing,"No,he's more spiritual than religeous, they're called The Brian Jonestown Massacre".She had it in her head I was christian, cause I wear a suit in winter,"No,keeps the cops off your back and others give you opportunities if you keep ones appearance neat",plus I love black.Diane Perrys "That Girl Suicide" is playing now and that riff just took her away.I'm now her favourite driver.I'll give her the CD next time and urge her to buy records and cds for her personal library. Now Impact or better known through the official release of Tess and Antons collaboration,"Die Neue Welt",which has a different vocal mix, more pronounced than this version.Prefer Impact mix much more with the grittier vocal delivery, but the music is always,faultless.Perfection.Mostly,usually prefer Anton's and Tess's demos than the final product, that's just me,other opinions will differ. But for me,this is the best cruising/"motorik" (a term borrowed from the German band Neu!) tunes ever heard.Even put a paranoid meth head at ease,a feat not easily accomplished. I hope Tess sang the song,"Please Never Die" about you, cause that's what I want from Anton,he along with other collaborations he's involved with,is the only relevant music being made, yeah, there's Underground Youth and Dead Rabbits, like their sound, but Antons a seasoned traveller, matured by the interactions he's had with people in his life, the lyrics reveal this. But do believe,Anton working with Tess is amongst his best work, despite The Second Satanic Majesties Request,Diane Perry tapes,Pol Pots Pleasure Penthouse (with original cover) and Revelation, but Anton with Tess,is the best chemistry.I love Tess, but couldn't get into the Auras, you're the best with her Anton, hope this musical relationship last a few decades.Thankyou.
