Robert Motherwell is an American painter known for his series of paintings called The elegy to the Spanish Republic. And also the Robert Motherwell Open series and the Beside the sea series. Robert Motherwell painting is interesting to do. You can make your own abstract art by just looking at Motherwell art, see what he does and try for yourself. In my video I more or less give art demonstrations KZbin style. I paint and while doing so, I explain what I do, so you can do it too.
The video about the artwork on the wall behind me: • Paint like Alberto Bur...

In case you like to support me and the channel, here some suggestions:

In almost all my videos I use with Winsor&Newton Galeria acrylics, if not, I will say so in the video.
Other materials I use are in random order: 5, 10 and 40mm brushes, palette knives, acrylics medium, Ecoline liquid watercolor, Lyra color pencils, Lyra soft pastels, oil pastels, Stabilo color pencils, paper palette pad and basic masking tape. I also use household items like a permanent marker, scrub sponge, scissors, paper towel, and so on.

Greetings from the heart Albert. You don’t fail to inspire. Your teaching methods and the insights that you provide puts more life into works of art than multitude of books on the subjects they try to teach. I am an admirer of Robert Motherwell. Until I saw your lesson, I thought that I got a satisfactory understanding of this artist and his methods. Your explanation and demos gratefully, re-fired the desire in me to reconsider and relearn Robert Motherwell. Thanks so much for you dedication to always provide us quality art education and motivation to create. Stay safe!

Hi Franca,, thanks, lovely to hear. It may sound strange perhaps, but painting is about meaning, message, reason, story and oh yes also a little bit about paint. And applying the paint is also about others things like movement, flow, intention or intuition. And fun, enjoyment, learning and oh also paint... and doing the work, doing, doing, doing. Stay safe and happy painting, Albert

I liked Motherwell's paintings a lot too, but never delved too far into the philosophy behind them. I liked his wife's paintings as well, Helen Frankenthaler. Both used colors and color fields to help define their art, and were masters at it. This exercise reminded me of something that happened to me the other day at the hardware store having to do with the current social distancing. I will try to use that as a painting idea. Thanks Albert.

Hi Culture Fan, thanks. It was interesting to inform myself about his art. The exercises presented themselves more or less. Frankenthaler is on my list for somewhere in the future. Being perceptive in these social distance times can be very revealing and inspiring, especially around tensions and 'me first'. Bye, Albert

@@ImperfectPaintings how do you frame the painting?
@ImperfectPaintings
@ImperfectPaintings 4 жыл бұрын
Hi J,. thanks for asking. I have an empty frame (we call it 'baklijst' in Dutch) in English something like a shadow frame. I also have a foam board, the size of my paper, fixed into the frame. With a little masking tape it put my painting in the frame, take a picture, get it out and put in the next one. Hope this helps. Bye, Albert

Another great video, Albert. I've been a huge fan of the Welsh artist Kyffin Williams. I'd love to see how you deal with his landscapes. I encourage you to check him out. Kyffin Williams paints like no other. Somehow he manages to capture the pure essence of the location in impasto with a very limited palette. Many thanks. 👍
