Rarely it’s the case. Typically knight houses have more freedom under the imperium than they do under the mechanicum banner. In particular, one house worked very hard to null their obligation to the mechanicus so that they could change banners. Admech abuses the ever living shit out of their vassals, is usually the case.

The Count of episodes(book clubs in parenthesis): Space Marines 11 Chaos Marines 9(+4) Imperial Guard 6(+2) Necrons 6(+1) Orks 4(+1) Adeptus Mechanicus 3 Eldar/Drakhari 4, 2 each Notable Wars 4 Chaos 2 Sisters of Battle 2 Tyranids 2 Custodes 2 Xenos 2 Tau 1 As such, either Space Marines or Chaos Marines are in the lead with episodes, depending on if you count book clubs. Imperial Guard and Necrons are close 3rd, although Imperial Guard would be winning if you included Sisters of Battle, or losing if you didnt count the officio assassinorum. Last place is Tau, even behind generic Xenos. Chaos and Tyranids are also quite low.

@@bthsr7113 With the galaxy being cut in two you got a lot of worlds who are now seperated from the Imperium as a whole so that is even more likely. Add to that something like the Farsight Enclave who are laxer than the regular Tau and you for sure got the potential for it to result in hybrid vehicles and arms and stuff. Same with Rogue Traders who tend to atract the weird folks.

Idea for a free blade concept, which I’m definitely sure is completely original and definitely not already suggested here, is a free blade who defected to the tau due to being seduced by “greater goods”. Give it a railgun arm or something.

Has a railgun arm, Tau plating, Tau shields and some drone launching ports but keept the chainaxe out off sheer defiance to the Tau doctrine of ranged combat. Constantly gets into trouble with the etherials before the fight because he charges the enemy against orders, and gets into trouble after the fight because it keeps working.

Speaking of necrons, the dark mechanicum game is dope. I finally played it and chefs kiss. You can also purchase it for mobile devices at a decent price. The music is epic. Great game.
