In every Throne Mechanicum, you have the pilot, the imprinted "spirits" of the previous pilots...and Bitchin' Betty, who informs pilot and spirit alike of critical damage, low ammunition, and dangerous heat levels, just as she has done for millennia.

... So uh... the equivalent in Btech size wise of IMperial KNights are...Elementals in heavy armor or ultralight protomechs. Not 100 ton assault mechs XD. Mechs in Btech are above Warhound Titan and below the heavier titans, and could fight WH40k stuff on terms similar to that.

@@Eleolius Except Elementals are 2 - 2.5m tall, most mechs fall in between 10-14m tall. (Imperial Knights are 10-12m tall) so basically Imperial Knights are Medium-Heavy mechs.

​@@crystalalarm3 A lot of regiments use horses, but Death Corp riders specifically do not. Kreig mounts are genetically engineered creatures that only vaguely resemble horses. No hair, no tails, trotters instead of hooves.

@@patrickmcginty3234 Not many horses out there that could carry a 9' tall space marine even without their power armor and gear anyway. Their recruits, on the other hand, probably ride just fine. IIRC the Dark Angels used to include plenty of equestrians, way back in the days of the Deathwing Space Hulk supplement when they were recruiting from a population with obvious similarities to Native American plains tribes.

Knights and titans although outstandly cool always bug me for logistical reasons, such as reloading kinetic rounds into weapons that have external magazines and no auto loading capabilities. What good are auto cannons vs swarms when they have you get out to reload their drum fed hoopers. Or missile banks that deplete In a couple of volleys. Energy weapons are somewhat of a more appealing nature. But battle cannon knights bug the crap out of me to no end.

One minor quibble: you mention that the “creatures” used by ancient Terran Knights are long dead, but are the Krieg Steeds not descendants of that ancient breed? Judging from the way the Death Korps employs these beasts, it seems as though there should exist some form of link.

Not frontline troops but chasing down petty brigands, drug runners or rebels in conjunction with air power. Or patrolling for ork critters in really rough terrain

I have a question and I'm not sure that it can be answered. Are there any Imperial Knights/Titans that fought with the Emperor and the Warmaster Horus in the Great Crusade that are still fighting for the Imperium in the 41st and 42nd milenniums?

Warmaster Aries: Primarch of the Nightmares I think a lot of the titans are crusade era tech. Having been salvaged whenever possible.

Warmaster Aries: Primarch of the Nightmares probably considering how irreplaceable some classes of titan are, but new titans are built. But it can take centuries because of their sheer size and the fact the a tech priest has to say a prayer every time he has to do literally anything.
