As a bike messenger in the late 70's I got to go into a lot of buildings. I once had a pick up on one of the top floors of Chrysler building. It was a dentist office and the triangle windows were wide open. What a treat that was. Still my favorite buildings are 30 Rock and 50 Rock, Associated Press Building. 50 rock had escalators on the upper floors that would go just one flight so the employees of the Associated Press could go from one floor to the next very fast. This is how news was delivered back then. By hand! A strong honorable mention is the Woolworth Building at 233 B'way, once the tallest building in the world. You guys missed the boat. Most of these buildings you'd be able to enter without going through security or needing a pass. Even City Hall back then. Fastest elevators back then? WTC!!! I like your Taxi Driver t-shirt. The scene from Taxi driver with the old vaudeville drummer talking about Gene Krupa would perform outside the building at 54th and 6th ave if I remember. I'd sit and watch him perform while taking a break eating a knish w. ketchup and mustard for the carbs. My aunt worked in the Pan Am building for 28 years. She was the secretary for the publisher of Readers Digest 32nd floor. NYC was a great place back then. Lots of freedom you had.

I've been to New York twice briefly in my life. Once, just passing through JFK Airport on my way home from my time in the Navy. The second time, driving a semi through town, making a pickup in the Bronx and taking it to Florida. There's just something about that place that feels more alive than anywhere else in the country. It's actually kinda frightening, but it's obvious that it doesn't want to scare me. It just wants to make sure I'm safe before it sends me on my way.

If you like the idea of how occult and esoteric forces influence cities and their infrastructure particularly in regards to London England, read Lud Heat by Iain Sinclair and From Hell by Alan Moore

Their way of using New York as a source of inspiration and a well to draw from for their art reminds me of Alan Moore's approach to his art and how the city of Northampton informs his works. It's an interesting way of viewing things and one that has proved quite fruitful for them, and all things considered, I don't think it will ever run dry for either of them.

Part II. The Great DBD War of 1912. Hellsgate Bridge a great battle for three days of Death vs Black Metal. Meanwhile, a plan was formed using a tactic even Sun Tzu would approve. Doom Metal seen as the weakest meticulously attacked and defeated both Death & Black Metal to become the ultimate Kings. All now pay tribute to Doom metal.

wow, asked zach in an interview for alphaville which spot he would recommend for a tourist visiting NY, he said Chrysler building. Now I understand why. Ties perfectly in to their concept. The whole concept of marvel and craftsmanship and details and beauty together with oppressive ideologies, exploitation (just thing about the poor shmucks who had to break out that marble in Africa or the transport companies), the absolute decadence on display here, that is taken for granted probably by people who work there and around the corner lies the next beggar or bum.
