I love that all three of these dudes seem like the 'frontman' as it were. That is a super interesting dynamic when it's done in a wholesome way and not an "I'm better than the other guys" way. Alphaville is one of my favorite albums of the year up there with Pyrrhon's 'Abscess of Time' and I personally like it a lot more than Vile Luxury.

if deathspell omega would play jazz and world music, this would be the outcome. pretty excited for the album, just found out about this band recently. The cover evokes strong Fritz Lang/1930s new york era vibes and looks marvelous. Nothing like the standard black and white or monster or whatever trope black metal album cover.

their costumes creep me out as does that music. My son is at a concert with them as we speak. I will say this, I listened to the jazz piano the lead guy plays and that is amazing! I would like to see them do like Disturbed - hang up the creepy and save their vocal cords by singing normal songs. Disturbed was born to sing the Sound of Silence - I get chills in the best way; and their song Best things in Life. What a voice Dramen has! We have enough problems in this world - do we really have to try to turn people onto Santanism? Not saying this band is but the other two bands they are playing with tonight certainly are.

They’re definitely hipsters, or at least they fit that stereotype big city hipster “idea” I’ve encountered many times. It’s not a value judgment, or criticism, just a statement of fact. That said, there are way worse things in black metal than hipsters, and considering the art they create idgaf what they are or wanna be, their music kicks ass.
