Ahh, I guessed this a while back. I had a feeling Verhulst didn't want to play with Hal anymore, I just didn't ever want to say it. This what happens when a nice guy holds back his anger for too many years, and he just lets it all out at once. I thought Verhulst wanted to quit because he kept playing under Hal. But I noticed Verhulst drive to win again was there once Hal left. Verhulst never wanted to quit. He was just tired of getting yelled at everyday and holding it back. This is why nice guys dont' stay nice forever. They eventually learn just letting it out is better.

Both said some stuff that seemed reasonable, other stuff that just doesn’t hold water. I still like Hal, but he is justifying his baby behavior with wins that were shared with his team. Hals argument of his behavior being synonymous with winning is BS. He says he would do anything to win, except can’t exercise the slightest discipline to behave in a way he knows would benefit the mental of his teammates, and you can find endless examples in other sports or professions on how important effective team communication is.

i personal compete i high lvls in boxing, & some other things. i’m definitely a leader. i didn’t really like hal for the longest because he didn’t seem happy w tsm. u can tell the last few yrs. i said before he changed teams, i believe he should go to a new team. now u can tell how much happier he is. i enjoy watching him play now. the insults dont seem so person w dz. which i believe that’s what he’s overlooking. ppl called him names because u can tell when he was mad w tsm mates it was beyond just the game. which for any leader, it’s never viable. it’s the reason they lost these past few yrs. i also believed he should step down as main lead, & i believe w zero, it was the perfect squad. i wanted him w timmy, but he would have to lead, & it probably woulda been bad. timmy needs to become lead of his team when he’s ready, even if that means getting rid of design

Hal would be a lot more likeable if he would just admit that there are more ways to win then just being a belligerent asshole to your teammates. He constantly invokes Michael Jordan as proof that being a hardass is the only way to win while completely ignoring players like lebron, Steph or Duncan who had low conflict team communication styles (or “rainbows and sunshine” like hal puts it) and still won as much as MJ. Also for how much Kobe or MJ were assholes I would be surprised to see them say half the things hal says to reps and Evan while they were in a middle of a NBA game.

Yes there are different styles to winning and Hal's style is don't hold back, shout, rage get it all out and move on. There shouldn't be any surprise with Hal's IGLing style it's not a secret. Evan joined knowing full well what Hal is like as an IGL. Like Evan said he joined TSM as a business decision, now that they have won a few times he doesn't want to put up with it anymore.
