Making this video was pure torture. My flu still isnt over and I kept coughing every 30 seconds or so. Meaning the audio in some parts is heavily cut and I hope it wasnt too sketchy, sorry if it was. Next time it will hopefully be normal again.

Blood on the Snow looks like a variation of the medieval Scandinavian board game Hnefatafl, where the object of the game is for the player starting in the center to move their king to one of the escape squares on the edges of the board while the other player tries to capture their king.
@ImperialKnowledge3 жыл бұрын
Cool! Never heard of that

@@ImperialKnowledge I build my own Hnefatafl game years ago. The game is simple to learn but can require deep thought - a classic game of strategic warfare. Like Varagoth already said, Hnefetafl (pronounced “nef-ah-tah-fel” if I’m right) is an Old Norse board-game, but it’s also known in its various forms as Tafl, Tablut, Brandubh, Tawlbwrdd, Alea Evangelii and Fidchell. The family of Tafl games is at least 1,500 years old and was known not only in Scandinavia, but also in other regions that were under influence by the Vikings like Ireland, Wales, England and Lapland. The board was made of wood or leather and the playing pieces were usually made of glass, bone, amber, clay, and wood. After the 11th or 12th century, the Tafl games were largely displaced by chess. I hope you get well soon. Thank you for your informative videos and all the work and time you put into them. ^^

There is a European Tarot game called Tapp Tarock originating from Austria that use Tarot cards but they are not the same as the one used for divination. And its really popular in the northern part of my country while here in the south we prefer Italian Briscola or Terssette.

This is something that one usually does not think of but yeah, people will often have times where there is nothing else to do and rather than just spend that time being _bored_ , they will play dice, card, and/or _board_ games. It does add the the liveliness of the world. I wonder how D&D would work in Clockwork city. Would they just do alt-history fiction, or would it be meta & have theirs set on Earth? Anyway I like everyone else here hopes you'll soon get over your flu. Just make sure to not put any skooma in your soup during this time.

Yes! Tarot is an actual card game. From what I know it's a fairly complex game but I've only seen the rules and never played it. I do know most of the rules I've seen are French. And the blood on the snow game seems to be a Hnefatafl board or something like that.

Maybe "Deceiver's Dice" is inspired by "Liar's Dice" from Pirates of the Caribbean? EDIT: I Googled it, and apparently Liar's Dice is actually from the 16th Century and was played on real pirate ships.

Now these games would be a bad ass mod. I really love the tavern games mod I have and waste waaaaay too much time playing. But I would literally play any of these games in game for any amount of time, it would be so immersive and cool to walk into an inn and see NPC's fully embroiled in a complex board game that you can watch and then join in the next available game. Maybe one day some mod author will wake up in the night and not be able to live again until they make this mod. At least that's how I've heard inspiration comes to mod authors 😅

@@ImperialKnowledge I'd prefer that they bought the cards from another race, almost being like a societal taboo and obcession, to own paper products... I dunno, if no hint of that hypocrisy being endemic to their society is to be found in any 'canon' sources, I'd call 'lore-unfriendly-bull' on this, because, unfortunately, it wouldn't be the first time they botched things up, and sure won't be the last
