The mod is now available for beta testing. It doesn't have everything yet - there's no worldgen and mobs are in the early stages. www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/biome-backlog Since people are saying I put this all together faster than mojang, I'd like to mention at the time this video was released, this mod wasn't in a playable state yet. Nothing spawned or generated, and half the functionality was faked using video editing. Watch from 12:44 for more information. Anyway, what's your favourite concept from the video?

Considering the next update is the "underwhelming" update, I'd assume we need to keep our expectations for the Minecrafts devs very low, like I have for years. We need to be very careful not to "overwhelm" them. Mod creators have our back though, they'll continue to carry the game on their shoulders.

I *LOVE* the vulture idea. Not only does it help promote conservation and showcase the actual positive qualities of the vulture in a way that doesn't feel restrictive or lazy (like with sharks and fireflies), but it also offers a use for the Rotten Flesh item, which is virtually useless. Sure, you can use it as compost, feed it to wolves, or even eat it if you're desperate enough, but there are much better options for all of those cases; the vulture offers a directly positive use for it

I truly hope they make something about the ocean monument in the future because, in my opinion, one of the most dissapointing structures. You see these massive underwater bunkers illed to the brim with mechanical fish who shoot lasers at you, and you think "wow there must be something really interesting here!!" Only to find 8 blocks of gold and sponges. The loot is just so not worth it, and i wouldn't say the prismarine blocks are loot. Like come on, just make it so that the 3 guardians drop a craftable trident its so obvious. Besides, everyone would rather fight the whole structure than to grind for a thousand hours just to get a trident out of a drowned, which btw is so imbalanced compared to bedrock. But I understand why they do them, it draws eyes to the game, and keeps it in the public consciousness. Just fully watched the vid and it's really good! Here's some of my own ideas for a backlog update for the 3 un updated biomes in this vid Badlands: don't really have much, maybe fossils could spawn more commonly as well as being closer to the surface in the badlands biome, since in real life fossils are relatively common in badlands. Other than that I don't really have anything else to say. Savannah: maybe alongside ostriches there could be other unique wildlife such as giraffes and zebra. For giraffes they would mainly be ambient mobs that could be bred with baobab fruit. Wheras zebras would be skittish herd animals that run away from players that aren't crouching, kinda like ocelots, and could be bred with wheat or normal apples. There could also be abandoned mud huts near rivers containing early game loot and could add to Minecraft's quasi lore a bit. Desert: elaborating on the idea of ancient pyramids, maybe there could be a sort of "grand pyramid" rarely found in deserts, modeled after the great pyramids of Giza (though not as big.) Within it could be husks and giant scorpions that would poison you with their stingers, along with simple redstone boobytraps. To compensate the loot found in grand pyramids would be very valuable, and normal desert temples would generally spawn with less valuable loot to encourage players to seek out grand pyramids. Anyway enough of that ramble, leave your thoughts down below in the replys

Nests with stolen items will sparkle to indicate that your items are there. Sometimes nests will also have a vulture egg in them that you can bring home and make a nest for. Once you do that, the vulture you raised will take the items back to that nest if you die.

In regards to prickly pear fruit preparation another easy way to do it that people often do in real life is burn off the thorns because the spines are effectively just curled up dried leaves their super combustible whilst the cactus and fruit have a waxy outer layer combined with super high water content are effectively completely flame retardant, so you can often stick a cactus over a fire and burn off the thorns. I'd recommend being able to get "raw" cactus that heavily damages you if you try to eat it but you can cook off the thorns on a campfire or furnace OR you can use a flint and steel to clean of the spikes like the axe. I absolutely love the end update idea of meteorites that link to a temporarily locked section of the end, that's brilliant. Maybe a change could be needed for multiplayer, since it's not guaranteed everyone on a server goes to kill the ender dragon at the same time-and it's also possible to respawn the ender dragon. Maybe instead of unbreakable blocks it's more like a world border, but one that you can't see past, and one that only exists for players who haven't gone through one of the main stronghold portals, or maybe who haven't themselves gotten the achievement for freeing the end (which requires you to be in the end when the dragon dies).

As someone who grew up watching meerkat manor watching this video has given me sooo many ideas for cool mechanics to add for them. Meerkats tend to be family units (mom + dad + a few generations of kids) and if any females of the group get pregnant that aren't the main matriarch it's not uncommon for them to either get kicked out or have their babies killed, so in Minecraft if you wanted to breed meerkats a requirement could be to get meerkats from two different colonies and to make sure they are a certain distance away from the two og colonies, and even further away to make sure the groups can't get into fights. There'd have to be away to tell apart the parent meerkats from their kids, so maybe once two meerkats set up their own colony they get larger or something? Just so it's easier to tell them apart. Meerkats also eat bugs n stuff so their ai could be set up to attack spiders during the day time (which I feel like is also a good interaction with the fact that spiders also become passive during the day time).

Undead mobs having a *fear* of vultures would be really, REALLY cool imo. But I think that's about as much purpose as you could get out of a vulture without being way too "feature-fishing" about it imo. As for stuff like the termites: When the hell did Minecraft become a nature simulator? Termites are the perfect opportunity to introduce a mainline Arthropod threat into the game. Giant termites with various castes. Soldier termites being extremely dangerous. And it's a bit off-typical to ants, so it's a nice quirky fit into Minecraft, whereas ants handled this way might have felt a bit too standard.

@@MinecraftIdeasAcademy Well I wouldn't mind a little dip back in time to when we got things like giant spiders every now and then. People play minecraft so they can break blocks, exploit the surroundings, farm the animals, and kill the monsters. When's the last time we got an actual monster to kill? The Warden is really really REALLY cool but it does not count because it's more of a map hazard than a monster, and you certainly aren't intended to do battle with it. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind us *also* having Zoo Tycoon, but that's not what Minecraft is at its core.

Regarding changes to the end, personally I'd want 5 things. 1. Outer end: When entering the end the player starts a million blocks away from the enderdragon instead of in its island. This way the player would have to survive in the wilderness of the end without being able to go back to the overworld or nether since nether portals don't work. (Since this would mean the player would be locked in the end, far away from the end exit portal they'd need to be able to survive in the end which would require an end update). 2. Terrain: The end could use different height levels for islands and more unpredictability. It could have rare large empty voids or large islands filled with unique features. 3. Main island portals: The end should have unique portal blocks instead of bedrock. And it should glow instead of having torches generate with it. The outer end gateway portals could be breakable which would drop some valuable resource at the cost of needing to slay the dragon again to spawn another one. 4. Dragon life switch: The dragon being alive or dead could serve as a switch in the game for anything like gameplay, features, mobs, etc. Something related to dimensional balance. Though it should be within the realm of possibility. 5. Dragon fight: The dragon fight needs to be made harder with each update since it's the last enemy. With each update the fight gets easier due to items like netherite, scaffolding, etc. It should also get harder to kill everytime it's respawned. I'd love if you made an entire video on your ideas about an end update.

Not sure if I have enough ideas about an end update for a video tbh. But maybe eventually I will. Keen for all these ones but not sure about being initially stuck in the end for that long
@catabc-rd8dy
@catabc-rd8dy Жыл бұрын
@@MinecraftIdeasAcademy Thanks for the reply. And I understand. Being stuck a million blocks away would force players to play a certain way. It also depends on how engaging the new end would be. And survival would need to be sustainable in the end like in the new nether. Eyes of ender could be made to work in the end and lead you to the dragon's island so they get more uses. One major thing that's a personal preference of mine, but one that I feel would benefit and simplify the game making process would be for the end to have diversity and its own culture and stories. While everything in the current end should be the norm, there should be multiple exceptions. The alien nature of the end could be expanded so that an island could have it's own blocks, plants, mobs, structures, and rarely a populated village. The endermen could be well known colonisers to some of these species' islands, that take over due to being able to teleport far and wide. (Also they have a flying pirate ship in their cities which adds to the theme of colonialism). Maybe the player could bring peace between them once they placate the dragon instead of slaying it. Maybe the dragon is lacking something that makes it whole? A way for the player to choose between a war Vs peace theme with fun consequences for both. (Of course, the most important part is that the player is left free to do as they please and able to play how they want, but their end would have consequences that they themselves caused. This would need to be implemented creatively and carefully).

In my excitement for an end update, I’ve been pondering what drastic changes Mojang would have to make in order to make an end update viable. In order to get there, the player literally has to go to hell and back, and then they’re still greeted with a boss fight once they enter the dimension. Locking an entire update behind an interdimensional escapade and a boss fight isn’t a smart move, as a majority of players wouldn’t get to see it. Whatever route they take to making the end update more accessible, it’s likely going to change the paradigm of the entire dimension. They could make the outer islands accessible without requiring the player to defeat the dragon, but that would then remove the main reward for defeating the dragon. I’m still torn on it myself; as someone who can beat the dragon, I like that you get rewarded with an entire dimension for defeating it, but a less experienced player would likely find that design frustrating, as they would have a harder time accessing the outer islands. The end already has elytra and shulker boxes, which are absolute game-changing items that most players have yet to obtain through legitimate play. Let alone a plethora of mobs, blocks, and mechanics that an end update would introduce Then rises the issue that the end is difficult to get to in the first place, though I believe this to be the easier issue to fix. I think the biggest problem stems from the lack of in-game descriptions and guides to teach players how to get to the stronghold. It’s a very convoluted process that most players probably won’t be able to figure out on their own, leaving players who don’t watch KZbin clueless I personally think that a small, shrine-like structure with a sort of ender eye compass block in the center would be cool. It would point in the direction of a stronghold, but couldn’t be picked up by the player. It would hint that eyes of ender can be used to locate a stronghold, while also providing a hint as to the stronghold’s location itself. This shrine would serve a similar purpose to the ruined portal, acting as a guide/assistant for getting to the dimension it relates to. I also think that end portals should be tweaked to always hint that the eyes of ender go within the frames. This issue is mostly covered by the frames sometimes spawning with an eye of ender, but they don’t always do that, and it in that case, an inexperienced player might not know what to do from there. I really like that end meteor idea, specifically the part of it that gives players another avenue of accessing the end, but only after they go through a stronghold portal first. I’d love to hear other opinions on the accessibility of the end, as it’s a conversation I don’t really see many people partaking in. I think it’s an essential talking point, as I don’t believe an end update is feasible without making it easier for the casual player to access.

Very good thoughts here. I'm curious as to what the role of the dragon in the end update will be, too. A popular idea I've heard is that the ender dragon is the first task, then a more powerful version can be spawned using materials gathered from the end islands. A true final boss if you will

I can easily see them combining the three biomes into one update or doing Desert & Badlands, with Savanna all on its own. The Meercat just doesn't make sense in the desert biome at all. I think the problem with just adding things to overworld biomes is that it’s not a large enough change. Minecraft has fallen in popularity since caves and cliffs. I think what makes a good update is something that very clearly makes older versions feel old! Just adding some niche blocks and items isn’t going to make the game more interesting besides adding an hour of content.

One change i would make to palm trees in this video is that instead of only growing in hot places, it should only grow near water. Not adjacent to water like sugarcane mind you, just a radius that water has to be within. It would be far less annoying to farm and build with that way. And it would already be bad for tree farms with that blast resistance, though that's not necessarily a bad thing since mangrove trees are also annoying to farm (for different reasons). Either way, i love the ideas presented in this video! I certainly hope Mojang would consider some of this stuff (like those end meteorites).

That's a good idea, keeping a reason to go to the desert while making it not annoying to use the tree itself. An idea I have could be ostritch jockeys where adult zombies are able to ride ostritches, they act like stronger baby zombies. But when the ostritch is it it knocks the zombie off of it and starts to attack nearby hostile mobs until there are no mobs remaining or it dies. Also a badlands variant of the ostritch could be the emu, which are a more hardy ostritch that is able to take more damage meaning it can damage hostile mobs longer than ostritches but is ridden by husks instead. Therw could be a ratite for a specific biome with their own strengths.
