Hello , i would like to ask you why wont you export animation from Maya as Alembic and Import to UE and render there ?
@sangamyadav32903 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have tried importing alembic files. Yeah you can import animations as alembic file but for every changes you have to revisit the maya files and bake the animation again and again as per changes and reimport them. But the method she talked about is mainly for game ready Charecters. So the perpose is to import and use them as player Charecter in games. Alembic files doesn't have that flexibility it will be just like an animated static mesh only can be used for rendering. By her method you can bring multiple animations which will follow the same skeleton. If I am not wrong you can even use the control rig animation tool to make more animation on the same Charecter inside unreal engine.

im curious. what is the good rig method to make it from maya to unreal? i learned using both 'creating from scratch' on blender and using the blender metarig,but i would like to know if i can use the blender's rig when i import to maya and export to unreal, OR i need to learn all again on maya? i just discovered right now i need to learn maya due to unreal live link that is something amazing for me that want to use unreal engine and blender always get me out of nerves with the material not exporting correctly. so thank you

really straggling trying to get animations exported from a rig using Advanced Skeleton the imported animation to unreal are the right length but there is no joint movement, i dont understand what i am supposed to bake or how to do it i have tried Animation > Bake Simulation but it does not work?
@jonathandong14222 жыл бұрын
Whenever I make a root control if I bring in the animation to unreal the object doesn't move. It only moves if I put animation on the joints themselves or the object. Do you know what I'm doing wrong?

Can I import a character with the advanced skeleton rig? And if I can how do I create the root bone for the motion and stuff?
@dpredie3 жыл бұрын
Sonali, is it possible to drive an epic skeleton as a target if i have a non epic skeletal animation as the source? ( the plugin that im working with drives VRM bones in UE, i would like it to drive epic skeleton instead). all tutorials are the other way around ( epic anim retarget to drive non epic skeleton)

You can definitely animate any rig in maya, make an alembic cache of it, smooth it and bring it in UE4 to make a video.
@SonaliSingh3 жыл бұрын
Haven't tried Alembic yet. But thanks for the tip. 😊 Maybe I'll give that a go to render all the body mechanics shot.
@stefanomattianardi913 жыл бұрын
@@SonaliSingh Next Monday I'm going to publish an animation I rendered this way. I felt like a pioneer, because I didn't see many experimenting with alembic cache, but it's doable and you can find a good tutorial here on KZbin. Search for "exporting alembic animation to unreal the correct way". Be sure the alembic doesn't have any face with more then 4 edges and it comes in smoothed, otherwise perform a clean up, smooth it manually in Maya and save it again. Unreal wants quads and can't really smooth a mesh, if I got it right.
@reke99422 жыл бұрын
The only problem is materials and textures don't always work correctly with the alembic approach.
@stefanomattianardi912 жыл бұрын
@@reke9942 You need to create new materials for Unreal Engine, of course. You can't expect to convert the materials. I'm not sure for the textures, I think the UVs are kept intact, so somehow you should be able to reuse the textures or convert them. I didn't do that tho. What did you mean by "don't always work correctly"? Is there any other problem?

take a look at cascadeur animation software. its an amazing tool for making your animations look realistic ( physics based ), posing characters is rly easy too.

how long will take to learn unreal engine ??
@SonaliSingh3 жыл бұрын
It totally depends on what you want to learn. Coz learning the whole software by yourself with constant updates will take ages if it's even possible. 😅 Keep small goals and focus on a single feature. Learning the basics and Getting started with UE4 won't take more than a few weeks even if you're new to the engine. If you want to learn something specific then feel free to drop a suggestion in the comments and I'll try to cover the topic if possible. Good Luck 👍🏼
