Question on the mv command I can do that command without having sudo permissions and you're working within your own home directory so why do you need sudo permissions working in your home directory unless you don't have rights to that directory.

The only reason I can think of is that the Files directory is owned by someone else. We could know that for sure if the used -la on the ls commands.

What is the command for copying a file from home directory to root directory in linux/unix?

I'm confused. so the mv command MOVES and also RENAMES the files???? when using mv command wouldn't the terminal get confused whether to rename the file or to move it somewhere???

no bro if you move the file somewhere else other than same directory ,, it's moving .... but you move the file in same directory with different name is renaming... both are basically moving the files .... mv files1 ./Desktop/files < moving a file to different location with different name> mv files1 ./Desktop mv files1 files2 < moving a file to same location with different name > it's basically moving the file but within same directory and different name and that's how even though moves the file , it seems like it renames the files..
