It sounds like this was a phishing or spear phishing attack, even 2FA doesn't necessarily protect again that depending on the sophistication of the attack and type of MFA.

Question I have - if someone got your email.. does that mean they have all the info you had on Gmail?.. including any personal info they might have sent you?.. and if so, what are you doing to inform them that their data might be compromised?

@@Clarks-Adventure Suggestions for future email.. add a local IMAP or POP3 email client which uses Googles OAuth 2.0 credentials to your mix, such as Thunderbird (just one example). Routinely connect to your Gmail account to download existing messages, and then delete the messages from Gmail. This limits the exposure to only the newest email that you haven't pulled to personal (you control) hardware. This also gives the advantage email backup so you won't lose existing messages when hacked and will be able to target contact people who should be concerned about unauthorized information spreading. Last advice.. Never, Ever use any Cloud based provider or product.. You neither control or own any data you give to them.

Believe it or not but I've had problems with them even attempting to Screw Up my Samsung Smart TV ! 😡 Glad to Hear that you're getting things back in line ok, but the amount of unnecessary work and grief they Create is simply Awful. Ugh ! That's Nasty. The worst I've had is the Corporation that Masquerades as Our County Council here in the UK, having mutually Agreed my local Council Monthly Property Tax (called Rates here) , after a couple of Payments at the agreed amount, without my knowledge or Consent, started taking massive amounts every month !😡 When I noticed it, because they had cleaned me out, as apurchase failed to go through, I spoke to Lloyds Bank Security Department, which checked dedu tons, and thankfully they they took my money back Staight from the Thieving Scumbags Account. 👍 Never Trust A Damned Socialist. 👍

Helped my dad build a 55 steel sailboat in the 70's. 55 ft 20 ton. Built out of steel. Lost track of the boat after he remarried and then died. Has any one tried to sell you an aluminum ion battery for boats? Tesla has started using an aluminum battery to replace the problematic lithium. Even Edison Motors talked about the cheaper smaller lighter aluminum battery in the last KZbin video about their second generation for their hybrid electric semi truck and pickups.
