Certainly you can consider these things before dating at ALL, but I talk about what I think is most important to consider before dating (period) in my chapter on dating in my book!

Am I using them to fill some void in my life? Am I starting this relationship because I am lonely? Why do I want to enter into this relationship? Am I in a mentally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy place to date?
@quinoasongs25075 жыл бұрын
Let's face it. When you enter into a relationship, you will either eventually get married, or you will break up. Break-ups suck and are painful. Yes, we can't totally avoid it, but hopefully these will prevent them to a degree. And yes, that is why you take some time off to grieve after a break-up. Thanks Emily

Good video. I’m interested though...you gave a lot of reasons why you shouldn’t enter into a relationship. What are some reasons why you SHOULD enter into a relationship? Keep up the good work 😀

Yes, some great points to ponder here about the why nots, but would like to see more about the why you shoulds, as it were. :-)

The main reason is to see if this person could possibly be your life partner. 🥰

Will you elaborate more on the loneliness part? I know a lot of people who are lonely because they are single and would like to get married and start a family because they feel drawn to the vocation of marriage. I think dating with standards when your life is in order except for feeling lonely is ok. We are not meant to live alone. I think she's saying don't date someone you know is not good for you in order to avoid the loneliness. Dating someone who is a good match seems like a great way to battle loneliness to me 🤷

💛you Emily!! God bless you and your beautiful family!!! Divorced for 5 years. Praying for a God fearing husband. Getting impatient! I feel like I have a big X over me.. like it has NOT worked out with no one. I’m 37! Please pray for me.

Thank you for this. This really put words to why I’m hesitating about entering a relationship right now. My spirit knew to wait, but this really helped articulate why! And is helping me be more aware of my heart. Thank you!

your hair and necklace are both poppin'!! I want to say Emily you've been one of the biggest blessings I've received in 2018. Your videos have helped me date with a wayyyy higher standards and I so appreciate that! Last year I definitely did get into some problematic relationships because I was lonely and was filling my void of lack of self love, but I was able to work through that and am now dating someone who pushes me to be a better person spiritually, financially, and charecterize, and who I support as well

Being in a limbo of being single but having a very close female friend who id like to be in a relationship but it’s not a good time for her right now is causing me a lot of anxiety and depression. There is hope things work out down the road but I need to focus on building on building friendship. Please pray for my anxiety and depression
@gwendolyno.33305 жыл бұрын
Hang in there friend. Praying for you. God does not want us to be anxious! I know that doesn't mean it will just go away. But, " pray and don't worry" as best you can. Jesus loves you!

Thank you so much! Thanks to God I am not in a relationship at the moment. You just give me the answer and is because I feel lonely and afraid that I will die a old persone that no one will remember. I am not yet ready or I am not yet at that stage where I can give fully. I am affraid to give because previously I gave everything and receive nothing back...

I hear this. I was sincerely dating my husband to see if he would be a good husband and father to my future children. I wanted to get to know his choices, opinions, faith, kindness, how he treated the waiter even. I was analyzing his behavior and how he treated me BUT I was not expecting or dreaming of him to be prince charming. I wanted to get to know HIM! I also wanted to see if he was GOOD ENOUGH to be with me! ha ha! for real though I'm a catch and I have made him a wonderful doting wife and he has been a very affectionate and helpful husband and nurturing father. We are a good match but again I believe it is OK to stay single forever too.

I love this video. It took my husband 6 month after meeting to become officially boyfriend/girlfriend. My ex was abusive, his ex didn't honor him and his wishes and longing to get closer to God. We took the time to make sure we were good for each other.

All awesome advice! Zero of my previous relationships began intentionally so I'm asking God to help me consider these things for next time. I always end up liking someone because I feel like they are the "solution" to my problem. I think it comes from low self-esteem... I have that every man is a potential soulmate thing 🤦♀️🤦♀️

It’s funny how God works but I’m thankful He used you to remind me reasons why one dates. This guy and I are “talking” but haven’t made it official. I’ve prayed about our future “status” a lot and some of these questions have definitely made me think. Thank you so much Emily! I want to date with intention not just “willy nilly” 😊

Hard to do, yes! But good for our emotional and spiritual health. I’ll keep these tips in mind when the next opportunity for a relationship comes. Your videos are always highlights of my week. 🌹 Quick question: if you have chronic health issues, should you not enter into a relationship because of them? BTW, that’s so funny about your earring-I didn’t even notice you were missing one until you pointed it out! 😂
@meggyg80895 жыл бұрын
I also didn't notice her earring until she pointed out. In response to your question though, I think it's fine as long as both people are aware of the health issues and how it could affect the relationship. A couple of years after I met my bf, he's had chronic health issues. It hasn't always been easy being the one to take care of him. I love him though, and I guess it's good practice for loving someone in sickness and in health :)
