I would LOVE to see you putting the new Cave together! I always find these types of videos interesting, it's inspiration of what I could do when I finally get my own space and a proper "art/hobby room" in the future 😊 Can't wait to see what you'll do with the new Cave. But you're right, it's much easier to look after yourself with less stress around. I've had a lot on my mind lately and so my weight loss has stagnated a lot, which I'm not happy about, but oh well... better times will come and things will move along again.

Feels like yesterday that you moved to the current cave. It's a shame that you have to leave after all the work you put into the house and making it your home, but if it has stressed you out so much the past month, and you feel a weight off your shoulders now, then it's probably for the best to pack up and go. Funny enough, the first thing I thought was "omg, better internet for Gem-Gem!" 😂 A new cave era is on the horizon! I'm keeping my fingers crossed 🤞for everything going smoothly during the move. Congratulations to Mr Gem on his new job and to both of you to the new cottage. I’m glad that Jock is feeling better and that the timing of the move has come at a suitable time. The fact that the property is a little tired and needs updating sounds like it might be possible to put a little bit of your own stamp of personality into it. While you may miss the character that the current house provides your creative juices perhaps being closer to necessities and IKEA might allow for some different creative ideas to blossom. I’d definitely like to see a ginger coo drawing 😊 their my favourite, I think they just make me think Scotland just like Irn Bru.😅

Exciting times ahead Gem. Aww a new cave set up and we could get to watch, um yes please. New decorating and fixing always an exciting time, nothing like painting and putting up new wall paper. Have fun packing, will keep me eye out for those black widow pencils. Only feels like the other day there was banging in the background and your house came together around you, Mr Gem must come first if he’s happy in his job then you will be happy and more settled I know this is an old fashioned look at things but if one in a relationship is unhappy it’s impacts the other person. Sleep well, enjoy finding treasures you’ve forgotten as you refind things as you pack, embrace those happy memories, laugh out loud when you find the funny broken pot or cup. If it’s not to much, blessed be Gem.

Oh, I just wanted to say, when a person gives another person a gift, it is no longer the givers but the receiver's. Once it is the receivers, it is totally the responsibility of that person to do what they want. At least that's my firm belief. My husband and I have had many discussions about this. lol! We gave money etc to family and my husband would get angry they didn't do what he thought they should do. I always had to remind him of this. I always give and say "God Bless".

I think it's about respecting the gift-giver in this case, and I wouldn't want anyone to feel like I'm disrespecting their thoughtfulness. If I had space and it wasn't expensive to move, I'd be keeping everything!

I do clear out each time which is good motivation for a person who enjoys collecting things. I would love to see you set up the new cave, organizing new spaces can be very satisfying. I’m impressed that you’ll be able to keep producing videos while moving! Good to hear you’ll be closer to civilization and better internet, and you seem more relaxed. Moving is always double-edged, so many positive and exciting things, but there's so much stress with the planning. Our last house move I had arranged movers and everything was good to go, they had arrived and were loading up and mother was talking to the loaders and mentioned that we had to COVID test the day before, the loaders literally screeched to a halt and after an hour of phone calls they declined to carry on moving us. So we ended up moving using my best friend's quashquai (Nissan suv) and her fiancées little white van. It took us 2 days in 30+ degree heat, but we did it. Even tho it was my 12th house move, and I thought I had all my ducks in a row, it only takes mother to throw a spanner right into the works 😂

Wow, this was surprising! I agree with Thia, it feels like it was yesterday that you moved to the current house and we got to see you paint the walls and assemble the desk. Oh this is exciting news! I hope you are both happy with this news. I moved to Berlin from England with 4 weeks notice. In that time we also decided to get married, and we had 2 young kids. I might be a bit crazy but I really enjoyed the chaotic madness of the move! I think I am just a huge fan of change 🤣🤣 & I love moving house. I heard you say you're an old hand at packig up a house, I work best with no time and flourish when it gets to the point where it's easier to just bin loads of stuff rather than pack!! I'm not a minimalist so a move is always good for a good clear out. Best of luck!

Oh, and what a fantastic area to move to! I lived in Galashiels for 4 years and would move back to the borders in a heartbeat. I love the area and love the people there. The only thing I would say is sometimes that road out of Edinburgh through dalkeith and onwards does get affected by the snow in winter. I can't remember where the snow gates are but they do use them. Oh and you might have the train close by as well for getting into Edinburgh!! Anyway congrats again, and I am sure you'll meet loads of lovely people!

When Mr Gem and I first got together, we lived near Jedburgh (which I loved), and moved there just before Christmas. We were both freshly graduated and tight for money. We decided it was best to go to the big Tesco store in Galashiels and get a Christmas food shop, and just get as much as we could afford. We left with a 42 inch LG TV that barely fitted in the car and not a scrap of food. I still have a photo of Mr Gem with the tv, and it kind of set the adventurous and risk-taking tone for the rest of our relationship!

Glad to hear that all the stress is at least going towards a positive move!!! I'm actually in kind of a similar boat - found out yesterday that I'm moving halfway across the country in 8 weeks! But I'm -not- a graceful mover and it means selling a house that I love so I'm having a hard time with it even though I know it will be a positive thing in the end. And part of the positive part is being closer to civilization! Being able to walk to places and having easier access to things like healthcare is actually one of the reasons I'm moving. I look forward to following along with your adventures in setting up your new space and I hope the move goes smoothly with many friendly new cow friends at the other end!

It’s really interesting that wherever you are the farmer moves! Here in America, farms are on land that’s been there forever, often owned by the family for generations, and farmers don’t move. Like my family’s farm-we’ve owned at least part of the land since before it was known as the US

Most of the farms here are not farmed by the owners unless it's a small farm - larger ones tend to be purchased as part of a land or estate deal and they employ someone to run it for them - where we are going, the owner's family have owned the land for 100s of years, but none of them are interested in farming or know how to - that's where we come in. Very interesting, isn't it?

Let’s start with a massive congratulations to Mr Gem for his new job. Excellent news on several levels - end of stress, better place for you guys being the main two. But I have downsized from a 3 bedroom bungalow to a 1 bedroom flat and that’s always interesting ………. Strangely enough the council (my landlord) doesn’t see my need for an extra room to act as an art supplies room/library … 😊. But once you get the sometimes brutal “keep/get rid” decision making done it’s fine. I don’t know if you still occasionally have to come down to Yorkshire for meetings, but if so that will be better for you for the journey(don’t forget, offer to meet up for a chat/coffee/tea is always there). And an excellent excuse to get on with that planned clearing out the cave (no, not into my tiny flat, you devil!!). Videos - my darling child moving is always stressful at the best of times so don’t worry about the schedule - the odd short for updates would be nice but if some full scale ones fall by the wayside so be it. Right, I’ll watch the rest of the vid now.

Hello Hello there, I have enjoyed watching your videos over the years. But I don't think I've ever commented before. I was intrigued when you said you lived currently halfway between Dundee and Aberdeen. Back in 1990, 91 and 92, My husband was stationed at RAF Edzell. We lived in the small village of Edzell located close to the base. We lived at the end of Ramsay street, Just down from the clock tower. Our Landlord was the farm manager For Lord Dalhousie. As the house came with the job He invested his money In the cottage in the village. He rented it to us And others until he was ready to retire. His name was Ned Firth. The Dalhousie estates were just outside of Brechin. So I was curious if you lived anywhere nearby. I have missed Scotland so much 😢... I hope you are excited for your move. Due to life in The military And life in general I have moved 32 times. And I loved each and every move. Even though it was a lot of work it was just so exciting to be off on a new adventure. OMG!! Excited for you and this positive change, but understand about the stress and packing up and downsizing. Just finished purging myself after 30 years in the same house. Surprisingly, I didn't have too much trouble letting things go except for my art room and my sewing room. I'm at capacity in both those areas. Thanks so much for giving us a peek into your life. I've been watching since the first cave, so looking forward to seeing how the next one is. Are you going to miss your sunroom? What about the views where you are going?
