Darth Tropius was a Toxic Stall Lord who wanted to use the Tropium in the Leech Seed to sustain his own life. Unfortunately for Darth Tropius he succumbed to his demise when the Monkey pokemon noticed his banana beard and destroyed him. Many have wondered if this power could be used. I say not by a Tropius.

Yknow, I've always thought Tropius was a great candidate to get the "Roselia treatment", as I call it. A new baby form to make it accessible earlier in the game, plus a new evolution to give it the power it needs. That's something I'd love to see done someday

Something I learned from Chugga is that Tropius and Bibarel can learn all 8 HMs in gen 4 together meaning you only need to hire 2 HMployees for the whole game! I mean its a pokemon game you can win with 1 pokemon and you get to use 4! WOW!!!

My only thing against that is that a second HMployee isn't needed, really. Strength, Surf, and Waterfall are actually decent to good moves. Strength and Waterfall are base 80 physical moves with 100% accuracy, so actually decent. You only need Defog for one route, then you just delete it. Staraptor is not just one of the best Fly users, but one of the best playthrough mons in the series. Yeah yeah, "my damage and i want it now". Wing Attack and Aerial Ace aren't exactly bad moves, and it gets Close Combat and Brave Bird. That's enough. What's that smell?.... (with a high pitched voice) Oh yeah, Tropius does get access to Strength, Fly, Defog, and Rock Smash, so you can just put the rest on Bibarel. And Bibarel will even get stab on all of them, so it'll actually do some damage. Thank you Tropius for being the perfect wingmon for our lord and savior, Bidoof!

As a grass type stan, I appreciate having Tropius exist so we can get hefty amounts of tropium that allow us to "um actually" Pokemon KZbinrs that slander our type. This video also reminds me just how many mixed attackers Hoenn has, and some of its weird Pokemon like Delcatty are. That thing had 390 BST until they later buffed it to 400 BST to just make it slightly faster, and then afterwards they were afraid it was too good and had to give it Normalize.

The kicker is that Tropius isn't even bad in the way something like Ledian or Luvdisc is obviously bad. His stat total is kind of reasonable. It's just that he blows it in every conceivable way, and I don't even know what to do that would really help without drastic measures. It's like he learned the art of being disappointing from Meganium, and mastered it. Though yeah, the HM help is appreciated.

Tropius became one of my favorite Pokémon in gen 3 because of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team. I was in the Sky Tower and recruited one by chance. It was thanks to it using Sweet Scent that my stronger moves would no longer have the chance to miss and got the upper hand when I needed it most, letting me beat the game. Fun video dude.

Tropius's niche in Gen 3 is being a ground-immune Chlorophyll user, which is valuable when paired with Groudon in double battles. Jumpluff is considered better at this role, but Tropius does get Solar Beam and Growth allowing to fill a more offensive role and threaten opposing Kyogre.

I have to say, as big as the pixel art was for Tropius in pokemon Sapphire/Ruby, I assumed it was a legendary pokemon. As soon as the pixels lit up, I saw it as a Meganium with Wings, lol. I remember it was in that tall grass on the way to the the Weather institute and it was raining in the whole area. Honestly, I haven't caught one in gen 6, 7 because of gamefreak designing it like an air planr model hanging in a kids room. The same is applied to Swellow.

If paired with Leftovers, it will stack. Typing: Grass/Flying (since Sceptile stole Grass/Dragon) Stats: 115 HP 70 Attack 130 Defense 110 Sp. Attack 130 Sp. Defense 5 Speed (so it's much better in Trick Room at least) New Moves: Calm Mind Body Press Giga Drain Energy Ball Roost Hurricane Leaf Storm Leech Seed (no breeding) Rest Sleep Talk Earth Power Tailwind Aura Sphere New Signature Move: Banana Peel Throws a Banana Peel on the opponent's field. Unless this peel is removed with Rapid Spin or Defog or other hazard removal moves, the next three opponent Pokèmon that will switch-in will not be able to act for one turn. (AKA Passive Fake-Out). After three moves canceled, the Peel will disappear and have to be reapplied. Pokèmon that wear Heavy Duty Boots will be able to ignore the Banana Peel and still act. Hopefully this new Mega will find itself having a niche as the best Subseeder in the game. With sun support, and with Banana Peel, you should be able to get a lot of free turns to setup a regenerating Substitute and Leech Seed combo and become unstoppable. Your only problem is that Tropius typing is still quite bad so if you don 't hide behind substitutes you still risk taking 4x damage from everything. Will this new Tropius be able to dominate the stall metagame?

Mega Tropius Grass/Dragon Ability: Bananza (Seed / fruit based attacks do 50% more damage) Hp: 109 (base stat increase not from mega) Attack: 68 -> 118 Defence 83 -> 93 Sp atk: 72 -> 52 Sp Def: 87 -> 97 Speed 51 -> 101 Total: 570 Signature move Banana Blast (40bp 100% accurate grass move hits twice and sets up the banana peel entry hazard, Pokémon switching in trip over and take damage based on their weight)

Nah. Tropius is great! It has access to a good spread of HM moves. Fly, Strength, Cut, Rock Smash, Defog. Sweet Scent, too. Pair it with your choice of wet lad to cover Surf, Waterfall, Dive/Whirlpool, and you're cruisin!

So funny story. I had decided to do an Inclement Emerald Romhack run with a Sandstorm team and it defensively had a Tropius-shaped hole in it. Given the romhack had given it buffs, I wanted to give it a try. I used the trade one to keep Aerilate, and bred my own thanks to it being Female and neither it nor Ditto would be available until Gym 5. I have to say, give that thing some better stats and moves, and watch this thing sit on a lot of mons for days, even in Sand.

You ever hear the tragedy of Darth Tropius the Weak? No. I thought not. It's not a story the fire types would tell you. It's a grass legend. Darth Tropius was a pathetic member of the grass type so feeble and so foolish that he believed a viable strategy would be to influence the leech seeds to steal... life. He had such a lack of knowledge of the meta that he couldn't keep his teammates from fainting. He actually couldn't save anyone from fainting? The grass type is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be... unviable. What happened to him? He was so weak that his only hope was to beg GameFreak for a buff which of course they never did. Unfortunately, or rather fortunately nobody wanted to become his apprentice and he was forced to languish in ZU for the rest of his life. He couldn't save his partners from fainting, or even himself. Is it possible to be a powerful grass type? Not as a Tropius.

I too shall partake in the Great Tropium Overdose. I get why they're gone, but I also feel like the loss of HMs is a contributing factor to why Tropius is so awful. At least in Gen 3 you could use it as an alternative to Linoone. What does it have going for it beyond Platinum (although I suppose even there it loses out to Bibarel as the premier HM slave)? If I were the one that had to design Tropius for its first iteration as a lategame single stage ...... I'd probably have made it a Grass/Dragon first things first (not much better than Grass/Flyingg as the two typings have almost anti synergy, but it would have given it a much bigger cool factor to justify putting it on your team and would explain the fact it's in the slow xp group. Also, now it has a reason to have so many Dragon moves like Dragon Dance, Dragon Pulse, Outrage and Dragon Tail). I would have given it a 500 BST with 30 more in it's SpA and 10 more in Spe and then taken 15 from it's Atk and put 10 in HP (for the clean 109) and 5 more in Speed, that way with the additional 15 it's genuinely fast in Sun. Of course it should get offensive moves to go along like Draco Meteor, Earth Power and for the newer gens Weather Ball Competitively it would still suck quite a bit, but there would at least be some reason to use it in the bottom tiers, and it would start putting in some work in Playthroughs that way, which is honestly a really high bar for it

hey now, tropius is actually really good in terms of game design. it hits all the starters for super effective damage. its bulk forces you to use other options to deal with it so you cant just use your starter (unless you're using the torchic). its a very valuable lesson to teach the player early on, so its a great early game boss fight. ...what do you mean its only available after 5 badges

I remember playing Platinum as a kid. I did the thing where I pretty much just brute forced my way through the game with Chimchar. I hit a snag when I got to Crasher Wake. Went to the Great Marsh and caught some of these. I was surprised it took 4 of these on my team to give me a chance.

The trick for me was in Mystery Dungeon, where the last few floors of the final dungeon, Sky Tower, featured nothing but it and Salamence. I thought they were comparable as challenging behemoths before the final boss.

In my mono grass run of Omega Ruby I used the dexnav to get a Dragon Dance Tropius and super trained it to get max Attack and Speed. It was surprisingly strong, even though it took a while to find it and EV train it lol.

I've brainstormed an ability called Saurian Might for Meganium, Tropius and Aurorus. While under harsh sunlight it boosts the Pokemon's DEF and SDEF and also reduces damage from fire and ice damage by half. Also I'd just redistribute 30-40 speed to their HP and DEF and/or ATK. Or SATK for Aurorus maybe? Suddenly they'd become an okay wall who can threaten non-Ghost types with Body Press.

Tropius is so ass that even when I did a **Grass-Only** Pokémon Emerald run he was still the worst Pokémon in my party by a long mile, only picked him up so that I could use Fly and because of Magical Leaf since I needed to give the Giga Drain TM to my Ludicolo. You didn't hear it wrong, his main selling point in a team full of grass types was being a HM employee.
