There is a Bug/Grass niche in Gen 4 Ubers: Dry Skin Parasect. It slurps up Specs Kyogre's STAB and forces it to switch out, lest it get Spored or humiliatingly killed. Unfortunately if Kyogre isn't using a Choice item or is locked into a non-Water move, Parasect is screwed, which is why it's just a niche.

My favourite balanced hackmons set was a level 1 mega alakazam, with prankster, spikey shield, taunt, encore and destiny bond. It existed solely to be a hard counter to setup sweepers that dont use priority. And sturdy shedinja. I think it may be more that something like Pkhex doesn't support it, but there are ways to edit Pkhex to allow you get Eternamax (I believe the current method involves catching it from changing raid pokemon). I think its moreso decided by what you can obtain in game that can still battle agaisnt someone who does not have an edited game.

Shout outs to eisecue in gen 8 PH, since Ice Face is one of the few abilities that doesnt get negated by ngas, which means it can tank every OHKO move in the game. A Also Cramorant with a pikachu on its mouth, who also has one of the few abilities not negated by Ngas, its immune to fissure, and it can force paralysis + 25% damage to everything with gulp missile. this niche in fact also got it banned from Balanced Hackmons!

I made a couple hackmon to experiment with in our games on the handhelds in college; and I got really into Eviolite Type Null. I use it in normal games too but in hackmon I could give it setup and recovery moves to make it into a real powerful bulky sweeper. I was the only one with hacked pokemon though so I was not up against the terrors of the real hackmon threats.

Stuff like that can also happen with mono-fire types using Burn-Up. Its niche, but not fully unusuable? The issue is, its liable to being outsped, can be blocked by wonder guard, and can be sidestepped with moldbreaker. Most wonderguard cores can cover all type weaknesses anyways, so having doubleshock wonderguard is often redundant.

in gen 6, both are used. spore is more consistent and is easier to impostor-proof while dark void hits targets that spore wouldnt. spore is seen on mons that can threaten giratina (such as mega gengar, mega diancie, etc) since giratina is the main safety goggles user and there arent very many relavent grass-types

Probably because shed tail wasn't out at the time. Also, doubleshock wonderguard has the same issue as a lot of other such strategies, in that mold breaker can get around it.

double shock/burn up wonder guards arent very good because theyre vulnerable to neutralizing gas/mold breaker like other wonder guards, you would rather use a different wonder guard like audino whos more suited to take on neutralizing gas/mold breaker users
