Umm they do salt the roads in Japan. And in some snowy and colder areas they have sprinklers that squirt a mix of water and some other chemicals to de-ice the roads, leaving a nice rusty red stain all over the roads. So they definitely have rusty cars in some areas. I know because I’m living here, and seen some fairly recent cars with rust coming out on wheel arches and bottoms of doors.

You in the UK are lucky buggers to drive on the same side of the road as Japan 😂 but I WILL NOT accept defeat due to RHD. Many people who have imported cars from Japan have said you get used to it very quickly and the Jimny is very narrow so there should be zero issues. In underground car parks just unbuckle and bend over to the other side.😅 Cheers to you!

I bought this car so don't believe the BS from clowns who don't now what they are talking about. FACTS 100% UK legal. £24,000 on the road. Swopped Insurance from my old car to the Jimny. Cost under £400 full comp.(may be more / less for you) Road tax £210 First service at Suzuki dealer. (no problem) Steve is a honest guy & was very easy to do the deal with. If your thinking of buying one contact him. Try finding one cheaper.

@@bigjimny oh, not even the new hybrid version coming out in 2026? Oh yes, I might have sent some embargo documents two or three years ago with the dates of hybrids and other models of new Suzuki’s coming out including the 5 door a year and a half before it came out down under . Trust me, the three door has a better quality paint finish at a Japan in my eyes anyway. .

The issue here is the "Zero Emission Vehicle" (ZEV) Mandate. This imposes fines on manufacturers importing cars based on the percentages of zero emission and non zero emission cars sold. This year 22% of vehicles sold by a manufacturer should be EV (zero emission) By 2030 this needs to be 80% and by 2035 it should be 100%. Fines for manufacturers not achieving this are up to £15,000 per car. Therefore many car manufacturers have simply stopped selling cars this year as they would get the quota fines. I understand Suzuki has paid up for this current year and now has reached its quota within that payment so cars have simply stopped as Suzuki has no EV at all, just some Hybrid. So we are getting the new Suzuki EV in 2025 and a restricted set of hybrids. Whilst the 5 door hybrid has been seen testing in Austria, this is simply because there are some test facilities there, I have been told it will not be coming to Europe. It would also have to pass things like crash testing etc. whilst the 3 door in the EU has extra box sections added along the chassis to achieve this I cannot see Suzuki going through the certification process for the 5 door. I dont think an EV Jimny can be ruled out but my feeling is that this would be an EV first and a Jimny only in name. However the glimmer of hope is that virtually every car manufacturer has told the goverment that they cannot reach the percentage of EV sales as the public is simply not buying, this may result in a change of view

@@bigjimny well that’s sad about the madness of electric vehicles they should concentrate on lower emission or zero emission vehicles are not thinking the Electrician future because it’s not. It’s just the present. Why concentrate on motor vehicle vehicles instead of the large industrial companies producing more pollutants than all the motor vehicles in the world together? I actually sold my 2022 Jimny back to my local dealer for NZ$4000 more than I paid 12 months before and upgraded to a new 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser 78 V8 Troopy because it’s one of the few vehicles other than the Suzuki‘s in New Zealand that comes with a manual transmission and also from the factory with locking front and rear differential, a decent fuel tank range with 180 L of diesel. The main reason I switched was because unlike the Jimny it didn’t have and does not have so so much electronic nonsense. I was sick of warning devices going off when I come over a brow of a hill with a low sun angle, lane departure warnings going off when there was dirt on the lane markings, I turned this permanently off, and a number of other advanced warning devices that just a ridiculous. In New Zealand in 2022, we had electric folding and mirrors like you posted above and another number of other modifications, including the crash boxes on side of the chassis in New Zealand and Australia . Now with sales cut out for Europe and the UK maybe the backorders in Japan can be shortened for the Japanese as some of them had to wait 3 to 4 years . Which is a similar waiting list in New Zealand for new V8 now being downgraded to a 2.8 litre four cylinder diesel in the new model Land Cruiser 70 series.

Something has gone wrong with some of the comments and replies posted. I did reply about the pricing but it has disappeared. You can expect to pay around £24000 upwards for a new JB74, a used one will be less. I understand the reason why you cannot get a firm price is because that only occurs once they have landed in the country and all fees and dues have been paid. The main driver of the price is how much the car costs at auction and the demand is high at present. Every car has lots of UK bidders and if you are after a specific one that everyone else is after then the price is higher. THere are also importers who are putting a significant mark up on them, we have seen them at £30,000+

Are there any problems getting insurance for imported Jimnys into the UK? Also, do you have any idea what the total cost would be to buy the Jimny for a UK customer, let's say the top of the range Jimny, the version with all the extras fitted ?
