In today's video i will be taking my new jb74 suzuki jimny to the yearly examination. For some weird reason it's mandatory to get every car fully checked to see if it's safe to be on the road. It costs a lot of time and money and if you get lucky you get a green card...but not me , nope i got a red car!
I forgot my wallet and everything that could go wrong went wrong....enjoy :-)
Thank you for watching!

This is why you revert to stock for the inspection, then revert back to mods after the inspection In Australia we have a yearly inspection to make sure the vehicle is "Road Worthy" on all cars older than 5 years. Ie not rusted, lights all work, tires are good, brakes are good, etc If you get a new car, you do not need to get the inspection for 5 years. The first inspection you get may hurt some people as they get hit with a list of issues

In Germany cars, who are brand new have their first TÜV approval after 3 years, after that it's every 2 years. For commercials it's from the beginning every 2 years. But the german TÜV is much stronger, so for safety of pedestrians here is a lot of possible modifications, like metal Bumpers or the Jimnybits HD-winchplate, is not allowed to have on the Jimny!

Spain, yes, ITV… UK, yes, MOT, Germany TUV. Similar costs although the UK MOT not as strict on non-genuine parts like exhausts, wheels and tyres etc. Spain is very strict, any changes or additions from OEM need engineering approval and part approval certificate plus fitting invoice for a qualified workshop, even changing tyre size from what is writen on the log book is a no-no

In the US it varies dramatically state to state. Some more rigorous, some more lenient. In NY it's state inspection every year, and registration renewal every few years. $25 & $65 USD.

In the UK vehicles are required to take a yearly M.O.T ( ministry of transport ) check once the vehicles is 3 years old. The exhaust would only fail here if he did not meet noise decibel or CO2 emissions levels. Good video.

@@LifeofSmokey the above comment sounds like Kerala state in India. But in general in India, there are no yearly checkups. We need to do a full fitness test of the vehicle after it completes 15 years. If it doesn’t pass then we gotta scrap it I guess. Every year/6 months we need to do an emissions test. If you miss emissions test you can still drive but cops will fine you if they stop you on the road.

Spain IS the pain. Yeah, conditions are similar but everything you add must be homologated before. Add the LEDs on the roof? Homologate. The exhaust, homologate. The wing, ladder, winch or whatever homologate. You have to pay per every item in separated tests and then, go to technical inspection or is no-no for all. Its really expensive to pimp Cars here, homologations can go Up to 200€ per item 😱

That's how you make passive repetitive loads of money. People can just learn from the govt. No yearly check here, valid for 15 years at the time of registration but they do charge almost 40-50taxes on cars throughout the purchasing process and huge riad taxes for no roads. Goota say for this situation, Jimny suits well, if they launch one here.

These inspections are a pain, but on the other hand, you don’t want cars being driven when they’re unsafe with faulty brakes or steering. Most of us wouldn’t do that but some people would , just to save money or because they don’t care about others. So yeah, it’s a pain, but our cars can be a danger to others if we don’t look after them. In the U.K., private garages can be licensed to do the annual inspection (MOT) and you can just leave the car there for an hour or so and pick it up afterwards. Costs money as well, and sometimes maybe they take advantage to sell you new parts or a repair, but it’s pretty convenient…

Exhaust are usually fine as long as it meets the emission and sound levels.

I'm in Maryland US and when you buy a new car you never have to have an inspection. Inspections are a one time thing on used cars or when you import a car into the state that you did not have registered in the state before. I had a 2011 Ram 2500 that I bought here, but then moved to Kansas and back and no inspection was required when I moved back into the state or any other time in the 11.5 years that I owned it (sold it about 6 weeks ago). Since it was a diesel it was also exempt from emissions testing (diesels and hybrids don't test).

In California U.S. we have yearly registration of $150 and every 2 years smog test $25-50. If the vehicle is older than 1970, no smog ever. However, CA is regulated by county and some counties are more strict than others. Surprisingly San Francisco, one of the most liberal cities in the world, has no requirement for smogging vehicles registered in their county! Because California's bad air is "the farmers fault".

You're explaining why I'm not interested in visiting (so much here I haven't seen) and don't want travel for business either. Yea, state by state is different here. But we can move to a different state :)

How did you managed to fit the original wheel caps into your rims? In a previous video the rims center hub seemed too big to fit them on 🧐

Mexico, we do the same but…. Every six months ! Is your car creates a lot of pollution you cant drive one day in the week and one Saturday per month, but trucks and busses that are the worst they have not the same regulations, so you need to pay the people to gave you a green note so you can drive always , you know, third world and corruption.

It’s called a money grab. Here in Canada if you buy a bike from another province you have to do an out of province inspection , you get a five year grace period that allows no inspection when the bike is new. After that has to be inspected. Any exhaust or modifications not in line with Canada traffic act will fail and have to return to stock to get road worthy to register

Hello, Nice video. I'm a Flemish Jimny owner myself. Mine's not a commercial vehicle tho. I have a winch in my bumper too. They didn't complain about that? Greetings.

Nope my winch is more inside my bumper so that's not a problem. 😁

@@LifeofSmokey Thx for the answer! A little part is sticking out of the bumper... We'll see. Next summer will be the first time "keuring" for my Jimny.
