I feel your pain, I just got replacement license plates for my vehicle in Saudi. Even with a Saudi co-worker translating it was a bit of an ordeal.

Haha, we didn't know anyone who did it like this (so not with export plates). But is is possible and also quite straightforward. Just a bit of hassle of collecting/translating/getting the right paperwork in Saudi🤣. But any kind of official paperwork in any country is always a bit of a hassle I guess

Was there any problem with the emission problem? I know that the EU is difficult about the emissions of the 70 series so I wonder if there is any issue with that?

For us no, because the car was part of our moving goods. At least in the Netherlands that means your car needs to meet less criteria then if you are importing the car.
