Great video! I've been looking for a solution to fix my video's (recorded on Atomos Ninja V) from being seen as audio-only files... I haven't found a video detailing this but it seems you've come across the same issue! What were your steps on transcoding the files so they would show up as actual video files?

Your videos are the best!! Thanks Is there any way to make a "Favorites" Bin and then somehow have all your selects go into that folder without having to drag them to the folder? Or I just thought I might try just dragging them to a timeline then select all those clips and drag them into a Bin, erase them from the timeline and start re-doing my timeline just from those selects.. I am trying to figure out a similar workflow I use with FCPX in Davinci. I sometimes have 50-100 "selects" from material and that I would like to be able to choose to start making my timeline from those selects and not 100 clips on my timeline...

Great tutorial. Do you know if there is a way to do the following: 1) Imagine you start a project by organizing the files and creating folders and media on your hard drive. 2) Then you use the 3rd technique to automatically import the media and create the BINS as you suggest. 3) Then you start working on the project in Davinci Resolve, and realize for example that you want to add two more audio tracks. 4) So you bring the audio tracks into the Audio folder on your hard drive. Now to my question: Is there a way to automatically have it import the new audio media into the prescribed Audio bin, or do you have to manually use method #1 and #2 that you describe. Would be nice if there was a 'sync bins to folder' option.Does this type of 'auto sync' feature exist?

Very interesting! To my current knowledge no, but I have heard of a plug-in for premiere pro that does this, perhaps there’s a resolve version

In my experience (windows only) this happens when you run Resolve as an administrator. Either run resolve not as an administratoror and or turn off "run as administrator" in the windows application settings for Resolve as this may be a set to run it as administrator by default. Edit: Hawkz has added that in thier case it was a result of a none compatible file (.mkv), so also make sure you are attempting to import a file that is compatible with Resolve.

@@FilmResolved For me it was because OBS Studio was recording mkv files not mp4 and Resolve just wont import mkv. So its my bad for just being an idiot.

Im not sure if its only on davinci 17 but in davinci 17 you just drag and drop the folder right under where it says master, and all the folders gets it own bin

My issue is that I can't import AVI files from my game cameras. . I have tried converting these files in various programs but once converted, they no longer have sound. I have found no good way to do it.

Any tips on importing MOV files? I've got the microsoft app extension but when i bring it into Davinci it shows up as media offline. thanks!

Try installing quicktime to get the extension and uninstall the Microsoft version and see if that solves it.

Check out the solution outline in the video linked in my pinned comment above. It's worked for a lot of people so hopfully it works for you too. Also double check the files your are trying to import are suported by Resolve, always have to rule this out.

Perhaps. If your recording as .mxf then yes that’s an issue

@Essesix from what I’ve experienced I think davinci doesn’t support x265 video. I used an app that I don’t remember the name now that converts x265 to x264 and it worked

Cannot Drag and Drop Media FIXED: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6fRgoeue9h0nLc And if you check out this video pay extra attention to step one: check that you’re using a compatible codec! I’ve had dozens of gamers using obs to screen record with .MKV asking why they still cannot drag and drop after following the steps. MKV is not compatible with resolve and you’ll have to convert!

Remember to also check that the media you are trying to import is a compatible codec!

Cannot Drag and Drop Clips to Media Pool FIXED | DaVinci Resolve kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6fRgoeue9h0nLc. This has solved the problem for a lot of people. Hopefully it helps you too.
