Note that there is a "Run as batch process" at the bottom left of the reproject window. Makes it far less tedious. I have just batch processed over 600 tiles. I'd NEVER go on with that one by one. :D When creating the landscape tiles in Unreal, you can adjust the "Tiles around current" value from the default 0, to say 1 or 2, and it will create more tiles at a time.

Well, first of all thankyou for taking the time to do this, and at present this is about the only guide that attempts to do anything like it on YT. Many route builders have come here for our first entry into TSW building. However... despite your evident knowledge of this, it is a very, and I mean VERY VERY difficult to follow video and I am requesting that if you ever had the time to make an updated version. In the updated version it would be vital for many of us to a) go a bit slower and pause between sections. b) assume that we don;t know what you're talking about - and try to explain WHY you needed to reload the first STRM data because you'd forgotten to put some number in - it would have been so nice to get some understanding of what that was about. There are MANY other examples of this right through the video. c) let US SEE the buttons you have pressed, how you moved the mouse to that control... where did you get the little CMD box to alter the time of day - and please, try to make the video using a system where you don't have to hide your files!!! That was really really frustrating. I can tell that you really DO know what you're talking about. A great tutorial is where, at the end of it.. even I know what you're talking about. I'm afraid I just can't keep up with you and I will download this video and play it back frame by frame on an editing suite in the hope I might just be able to catch a glimplse of what button you pressed. These observations notwithstanding, I wish to again thankyou for making the effort and the considerable time you must have put into it. I will keep trying to follow you... I'll let you know if it somehow "clicks".

Thanks for this *very* useful video. One question though: I'm not sure about the step at 4:32 as it seems very tailored for the area you're trying to model. Does it mean we can choose whatever CRS we want depending on the location of the route, or should we all conform to a common projection system, i.e. that chosen by Dovetail for TSW?
@thetrainguy48 ай бұрын
The CRS I used was a general one that should work for any region. Do note that I am by no means an expert at QGIS or the editor so I could well be wrong.
@ZbLuffer8 ай бұрын
@@thetrainguy4 Thanks and sorry, I should've watched the whole thing before commenting, as you convert everything in WGS84 Pseudo Mercator toward the end. I managed to simplify the pipeline a bit by just reprojecting my tiles of interest in WGS84 Pseudo Mercator for them to work in TSW. They come in 1000x1000 resolution so this ends up in a gazillion files (as many as the original ones), but batch processing in QGIS comes quite handy. Still, it feels massively suboptimal dowloading and installing a 1,2 GB software just to perform batch reprojections...

(In my case, I wish to build them using Autodesk Maya and Adobe Substance Painter 3D) And then import them into the game so you can use them in building a route? Thanks in advance! 🤚🏼

I would also like to say, when you do tutorials, we have no idea what you're doing. You should go step by step and explain what you're clicking because when you're clicking through menus super quickly it's constantly going back and forth and skipping time.
