Not sure if you guys catched this, but Chiyo developed that reanimation ninjutsu to revive Sasori’s parents. That’s why she lied to Sasori and told him to wait for his parents to come back from a mission, cause she was developing this jutsu the whole time. It’s also the reason why Sasori hates waiting so much, since he waited so long for his parents to return but they never did.

Sasori not dodging the last attack and his dialogue greatly reintroduced theme from Land of Waves arc. "Shinobi can't become tools, they are humans. No matter how much they deny and fight this fact - they always fail"~~Zabuza. Sasori showed it both physically and mentally. "I would describe myself as a human being who could not become a complete puppet, I am an unfinished puppet, whose lifeless frame still contains a beating heart at its core. I am neither dead, nor am I alive." - He made himself a puppet which is literally a ninja tool, yet still couldn't beat a barrier of necessity of having human parts within him. When he was about to strike with his final attack and noticed that Mother and Father puppets were about to counter him, he felt his hidden childhood desire of feeling parents warmth once again. It's just like when Zabuza was about to cut through Haku in order to slice Kakashi. He also saw a brief flashback of him and little Haku standing alongside each other like parent and child. He tried to abandon emotions completely but in crucial moment he hesitated and failed. Sasori wanted everyone around and especially himself to believe that feelings that make him human can be erased but it turned out to be impossible(impossible dream - title of the episode), just like with his physical heart. Also we now know why sasori hates to be kept waiting. he waited his entire life for his parents to come back home and they didnt. And yes sasori still believes his parents are alive, chiyo never told him the truth!! overall this episode was just sad.

Zabuza was a victim of their teachings, as he had to kill his entire graduating class. And without Zabuza, we don't have Haku. As for Orochimaru, I think it was the 2nd Shinobi War that made Orochimaru realize that life is too short after witnessing all the carnage, death of Nawaki (Tsunade's little bro), etc. He thought life was too fragile, so he vowed to learn every forbidden jutsu in an effort to prolong his life. I don't think it was the 3rd war, but still war did have an influence on the route he decided to take.

He and the rest of the Sannin claim to fame was during the 2nd Great War since they were the Leaf's champions after the War and during the Third it seems as if they didn't participate allowing the next Generation such as Minato and his team to make their names known. By that time Orochimaru was already leaning on the fence of betraying the Village but was just more cautious about it until he no longer cared.

It's kinda cool that they didn't really explain why Sasori let that last attack happen just that he did. Because that's how it is for Chiyo and Sakura as well, they don't know for sure what his motives are. When someone is dead you can only wonder why they did something. I always thought that maybe it's some sort of respect that he had for the two of them. Because he is more and more impressed by them as the fight goes on and he was like okay you got me I give up. To clear up what Chiyo meant. Sasori was thinking about his parents as they were about to strike. There really is a difference between Sasori and his subconscious deep down. Sasori has always wanted the pain to stop. Thats why he did the things he did. In that moment his subconscious took over even though Sasori "wanted" to kill them. Sometimes your body reacts differently than you thought you wanted. It shows that deep down Sasori is a person who had a hard time processesing death thanks to the teaching of the village and found his own flawed way of dealing with pain. He thought he erased it becoming close to a puppet but he was Still sufffering.

an efficient comment I can leave here is: 1 - sometimes, many characters do not have the prominence they deserve and are forgotten for the main plot, sakura having an evolution during shippuden was a great gift, because it really is very difficult 2 - at this point in the anime, I must tell you not to hate the villain characters (although there are some to hate, and when they appear I will try to warn you) for now, they may dislike the akatsuki plant man (his name is zetsu), it's nothing too big ah an addition, i almost forgot! “She’s putting her own meaning into the situation”, that’s not how storytelling works fam, the author put that line in there specifically to state that he could have dodged and likely killed them both but decided not to. They show his emotional reaction to seeing Sakura protecting chiyo and THEN chiyo launches the attack. He had a couanhe of heart on that exact instance . Naruto is all about sympathetic villains and them seeing the error of their ways at the end

Did they all close their eyes at the same time or something? Before sasori was stabbed he had a quick vision of his parents and he stopped right before. He kept having flashes of his parents and his idea of art is from his trauma of losing his parents. He tries not to be human as a desperate attempt to flee from his sadness and emotions but he keeps trying to create humans with his puppets he surrounds himself with and values. He has emotions but in typical "i'm so scary" fashion he denies it. Even notice how he still refers to Chiyo as granny chiyo whch is still pretty affectionate also he knows chiyo was poisoned but still tried to stab her instead of letting the poison take effect because he said it's a kindness to kill someone who's been poisoned because the poison is agonizing

sasori probably wanted to die cause he didn't feel anything anymore, he was both proud and horrified at being a killing machine, the picture of his parents rushing at him from each side made him avoid dodging, he wanted to be embraced one last time by his parents, even as a puppet

Sasori is shocked seeing Chiyo use the same parent-puppets, and just how could he have dodged that. Chiyo had to do the unthinkable. It's just sad.
