I have a theory: msushi and cant even are the same person. Both use one significant color, nothing else (purple and red). Both had some head to head action in older videos (one beated the other). And again, cant even set a new record, after msushi and the other speedrunners discovered the first skip he explains in this video. And third, u never see both of them at the same time. So my theory is, that msushi and cant even are actually one person, but msushi keeps this a secret to us, bcuz this is his secret strategy to become better by challenging himself, while being a different person... No - the individual level runs are usually done in challenge mode where you start at the intended starting place of the level. I guess if you’re like an ultra speedrun purist - yes you can do the level faster with the toast skip, but the community only really acknowledges challenge mode for IL runs

The parallels between this and what's happening in the mario odyssey speedrun scene are crazy! The SMO WR was a 56:28, with only 3 runners who had a 56. The level night metro had a boss with an unskippable "waiting" phase, but we found a way to clip out of bounds and grab a moon during this phase. The trick saves 7-8 seconds, and now the world record holder is grinding for a sub 56 minute run and got the first WR with this trick with a 56:19 😂small world
