Vast of night was a surprise huh? On paper it’s just 2 characters talking for 90 min and nothing happens… but the film making techniques elevate the material so much that it becomes enthralling.

And the way you speak and write is so engaging and clever. Thank you for creating such incredible content that is so well thought out. I have been out of the loop for so long, and I miss you and I miss watching great movies/books. You've never let me down. There’s a couple on your list that I’ve put on my watch list. Especially excited for The Sound of Metal and Corpus Christi. Also, I LOVED Promising Young Woman. Great video & list! I still have to watch Nomadland, Vast of Night and Sound of Metal but you just made me excited about Corpus Christi, which I wasn't necessarily going to watch in the first place. Speaking of 1st place, we share that one in common! 1. Another Round (immediately knew it was my number one after that finale!) 2. I'm thinking of ending things (Tried to make some friends watch it with me again. They fell asleep in that first 20min scene ^^) 3. Mank 4. Sputnik (which I totally only saw because you reviewed it on this channel. I would never have even heard of it if it wasn't for you. So thank you for that!) 5. Tigertail (reminded me of that "Parents" episode from Master of None S01EO2) 6. Weathering With You ( from Makoto Shinkai, the guy who did "Your Name", which Letterboxd tells me you haven't seen yet either!) 7. The Invisible Man (Never thought this movie would have made my list when I first heard of it ^^) 8. Tenet (Very dry, but crunchy ^^) 9. His House (told you about already) 10. Time to Hunt (A much better movie than I was expecting when I heard it was a Korean Heist movie, highly recommanded) Promising Young Woman just fell short of my top 10, landing at number 11. And lower down my list I also have Palm Springs and The Trial of the Chicago 7. One other movie I would recommend to you Marianna, since you like time loops as much as I do, is "Koko-di Koko-da"! Looking forward to your upcoming videos!

Been looking forward to this! You have inspired me to rent “Another Round.” I haven’t seen as many films this year as I’d like to (Have yet to see Nomadland, Minari, The Father, Promising Young Woman), but the best film I saw would have to be “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” I loved that it was (mostly) all one location, Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman were incredible, and it felt like the most successfully executed picture I saw.

Another Round is a disappointing movie. It has interesting concept. But somehow its never really gets into the theme as deeply as it should. Also the screenplay is disjointing and the movie does not form a clear narrative. Yes the movie has some charm but its not the top movie of 2020. Its just not dramatic or emphatic enough.
