For once, I am grateful for the famous KZbin algorithm for recommending your channel. As a musician, I watch a lot of music and recording content, but also studio builds and other renovation projects. Your channel has it all, thank you. I am currently slowly working my was through the renovation series and am thoroughly enjoying watching the process. An easy subscription 👍

"It's kind of embarrassing that i'm always so shattered every video" is truly tragicomic and got a compassionate laughter out of me😅

Great soldering job, that’s a lot of wire stripping and twisting 👍🏼 A good planning for the patchbays can definitely require some thinking ahead, I’ve changed them a couple of times already 😊

Though soldering a patch bay can be tedious, it really pays off in the end... as long as there aren't any cold solder joints. That's a pain. lol. As you know, part of the process is to just see if all the connections are solid and you get signal flow, organization comes later. Much later. Still so much to do but you've come such a long way. Too bad the boys weren't a little older, then you could get 3x as much done. :) Well, at least in a few years time you'll have the option of an in house family band. Looking good, keep up the vision.

That arm is called Magic Arm and is made by Manfrotto :). I've been soldering audio cables for about 30 years and the magic arm is perfect for holding multicore. Especially if you have superclamps in both ends :)

This is the episode for me, my patchbay soldering journey is coming up soon. Would love to see how you're incorporating DIs, HiZ inputs, splitting etc

Ok cool I can try to remember to mention that next episode.. I have worked out what I think is a nice system for doubling the headphone lines as di lines using switchable jack sockets on the patchbay.. so they are normalled as headphone sends but if you plug a jack into the patchbsy it kills the headphone send and is now just a balanced line between control room and live room

What a pain... I'm so glad I have a couple of Flock Audio Patch units in my studio. I've always hated patchbays... a necessary evil, but so outdated.

Noob question, don't you need to connect the shield paper to the ground as well ? (working out with shielded Cat5-6 where the shield needs to be grounded to be effective), just wondering.
@idea_farm
@idea_farm 9 күн бұрын
Hey, not sure if that would be possible.. the paper would just burn!
@connerscorner7034
@connerscorner7034 9 күн бұрын
definitely not. The sheild paper is already touching the wire mesh so no soldering necessary.
