Love your videos and looking forward to more of your studio build journey! I have a question, what is the calculation written on the boards at 2:36 time line in your video?

Thanks a lot! Ha ha it’s chord progressions.. I could have said it was advanced trigonometry

And I have to say, I do like a good bit of Japanese hand saw action. My dad had some from the old days which he'd use to trim skirting boards and dado rails.

@@idea_farm Incredibly expensive if you get a handmade one too. I used to used them for 1/35 model making and had a full set that cost me a bomb. Lovely tools though.

I think I would need to win a contest with a Japanese carpenter before owning a handmade one

I did my doors almost like that a few years ago. Btw don't forget to put fine sand between the glasses to dampen vibrations.
@idea_farm
@idea_farm 3 ай бұрын
Ah nice. How do you mean re fine sand? I’ve got 2cm thick laminated glass windows going into the doors (same mass as the mdf/drywall layers)
@bydeattic8319
@bydeattic8319 3 ай бұрын
@@idea_farm about 2 to 4 cm high inside the void gap between the 2 tilted glasses. Mine got a interior wooden frame to mount the glass and space them. Over that wood I put a coat of fine sand to prevent vibrations. I got that idea from a tv studio I used to work at. But I am only using this between control room window and live room. Doors don't need it much.

Ps. With glass that thick + air gap sand is not mandatory. Mine are just 1cm thick.

Is that how they basically make studio doors? With all those layered gyprock pieces inside or would they build the very expensive ones out of a single piece of heavy dense wood?
@idea_farm
@idea_farm 3 ай бұрын
I think there’s many versions out there, mass loaded vinyl layers, solid wood, metal layers, not sure they use gyprock usually

The exterior's looking rather sexy. Did you paint the lower wall in black on the smaller building? Don't see anything that adventurous round my neck of the woods in Norway. Great episode as usual. 🤘🤘

On the smaller barn yes. It was originally dark so we basically restored it.

You dont have a clue how to make sound proof doors! Embarassing!

Really sorry I embarrassed you 😔 like I said in the video this is what I did in my last studio, which worked fine.

@@idea_farm You need to read up on how to do it properly. Small gaps take a good door from adequate to bad. Your double door was ridiculous.
@idea_farm
@idea_farm 3 ай бұрын
@dougjane64 you don’t honestly think I’m going to leave it like that do you? How embarrassing. There will be rubber seals and double door stops.

Read up on some manners - the guy’s not even finished the full barn studio that he’s renovating - nevermind the doors.
