Today’s question- is your layout modular or static and built in place? There are a lot of good reasons to choose either route.

Thanks for the video on the OKC Train Show. Mike It was always one of my go-to events when I lived in Texas. Nice to see that it seems to be a well-attended show.

Hi, Norm! You bet...I am glad you enjoyed the video. It was definitely a lot of fun. I could have used a third day to shop, visit with everyone, and view the layouts! Ha. It was a very good crowd and a sure sign our bobby is very alive and well!

Thanks for taking time to visit me at Joplin's show Saturday. I just watched the video this morning, and it was great. The next best thing to seeing things in person is seeing them on video. I'm the guy from Aurora who makes the grain trucks. It would be great to see some of those grain elevators with trucks of grain lined up to be unloaded. Of course, that's my area of special interest in model railroading. I did notice one module on the modern layout at the end that featured a lot of JD tractors and 18 wheel grain haulers. Looking forward to your next video and hoping you have a good winter season that might afford you a little more time to spend indoors on your layout.

Hi, Ron! It was great seeing you at the show and getting the chance to talk. It's always fun to brainstorm with fellow grain elevator fans! I'll definitely take your advice and plan on acquiring grain trucks at some point. I have more than enough hopper cars and should probably focus more on the "other" vehicles! Ha. I certainly appreciate you watching. I hope to crank out some more videos in the coming days. Layout progress has been slow in recent weeks due to waiting for some track parts from the U.K. for my drop-down section. I'm not a fan of the cold. But, you hit the nail on the head by saying it provides more time indoors for the train projects!

Hello! Absolutely…it was a great show and I had a lot of fun! I look forward to coming back and filming some additional layouts next time. There was so much to see! Most of my second day was spent filming these…I wish I had a week! Haha. I do my best to highlight everyone’s layouts over the course of my visits to events.

My cousin and myself drive in from Sallisaw and Warner to the show. Lots of vendors and great layouts. Got some really good deals on rolling stock and track, we both had a great day.

That drawbridge! Very cool
@MainTrackАй бұрын
Absolutely! That makes all the bridges I’m planning on my layout seem kind of boring! Ha. Of course MKT had its big drawbridge over the Missouri River at Boonville, but that’s past the point I’m modeling. Maybe one day I can check into adding onto the house/basement for more layout space? Haha.

hi mike !!! just reviewed your latest track update and was wondering where you got the yellow auger ? kitbash or purchase ? as well, i am not sure i understand your concern over where your power plant will be. it looks like the bn unit w/caboose IS on a siding and therefore "off" your main line, but i remain confused a bit !!! in having been a subscriber of yours for years now, i know how you operate, mike, and to me, at least, i think that somewhere down the line you may not like the actual "positioning" of the power plant, as you stated in the video, and may want to re-engineer its location.... so, why not do it now ? here is why i ask... i understand you have limitations as to available space, as i did for my cement plant, so i added a "bulge" of 1/2" plywood that mildly extended into the walkway area right where i wanted the plant. the length of this bulge was about 24"-28" and cut to a 45 degree angle on both ends. i then added a layer of homasote on top of that and connected the "bulge" to the fascia with L brackets i had in my barn. nothing fancy, but it did allow me to add a lot more fun to operations at the plant and this let me face my plant in the direction i initially wanted !! mike, i cannot tell you how many times i have looked at that modification and said to myself " what a great idea " !! i'm just sayin', mike !!! denny

Free-Mo not ever the same setup twice.

That’s what I think is pretty cool about it. I have attended several shows that include some of the same modules. It’s always fascinating to see what different setups they create.

Hello! Perhaps one of your viewers can chime in on this one. I am looking it up, but am only finding shows in New Jersey or other cities in New York state, I would think surely there would be something in the city. I will keep searching to see what pops up!
