That's exactly how I started learning French, one word per day, then two words per day and so on. I had told myself, " I will never learn this language in my life" when I cracked opened a French/English dictionary back in high school". However, now I'm practically fluent and I've gotten so good at listening , is like working out to stay in shape, the results come in months or years, but you keep it up because you know you're getting there. @@akshitpareek849 I also try to learn through songs. It's just about translating each words and phrases to your language or to english if its easier. Then a good way to practise to sing it everywhere alone, for example in car. First time better with watching lyrics, later you can do without it. And shortly you can understand what you are saying too.

This is so true. I've been studying French for 4 years (intensively) i still can't speak 😂😂. I never have spoken French in my life 🤣🤣but i understand 99%, and my passive vocabulary is sky rocketing. Without practicing, speaking it's so hard to learn a language.

I feel like one of the best way to educate you ear is video books, songs, and reading. I struggled with English since 1997, in 2005 I moved to USA but I was still struggling in confidence to pronounce things. In 2019 I started ESL in my community college which it led me into reading a lot of books, listening to music, TV and or kindle book which are books with audio sound. Ever since I followed my professor advice I started gaining confidence when I speak... Remember lesson for life when it comes to learn languages. Currently I am learning French 🇫🇷 ❤️. This is my third language, counting my native language.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. One of the things that I’ve done frequently over the years is to think about the phrases/sentences and words I use commonly in my day-to-day English language and translate them into French. This video has an affect validated what I’ve been doing and that’s very helpful I never knew really whether that would be affective or not it seems to be more or less. But that you have suggested it as additional motivation for me to continue more fervently to do that.

I do the same. We moved to Paris when my wife was accepted to a university here and so _suddenly_ we needed to learn French. Whenever I think about somewhere I need to go, I think about what I might say to people there. I look those phrases up, practice them a couple of times, and if I forget under pressure No Problem! I just open the translator on my phone and show the person the translation. If they see that and understand, I think it might be my pronunciation so I ask them to say that phrase, then I repeat it, exactly, like a maniac. XD It gets some funny responses but I have never, _not once,_ been ridiculed for trying. I think it brings some amusement into people's days if nothing else.

Also, are you a native speaker of English? I hope you won't mind a suggestion - the way you are using "affect" is a little unusual. Normally a native speaker would use "effect", with an E. However, these two words are _very_ often confused by native speakers too, so it isn't a big deal.

If you stick with the 10,000 frequency list (most common vocabulary), at intermediate level in a five hour study you'll see the tough ones (towards the end of the list) pop up all the time. You badly need these 10,000... But not everybody can dedicate the hours every day. Not only in French of course, people working about a language with just 5,000 are destitute. One other motive (among many others), with these 10,000 as a basis you can start tackling the idioms.

Km just saying, you will learn WAY more vocabulary and remember it better if you learn words in context. Because you will be able to see how that word is used in actual language instead of on its own. also, you learn some of the words around it, so not only do you learn the word your studying AND how to use it, you’re learning other words too

I use translate or reverso, to say the things I'd say in English. I complain in French like i do in Engnish, or I talk about things I do and like, or things need to do. I also write biographical sentences. I don't know any other way to be able to speak at the spur of the moment, than to say in French, the things i'd normally say in English. My problem is I get too enthusiastic, and I write too much, I have probably 200 pages of stuff. When i look back at it, a lot of times I'm not sure what it says. I was always good at writing in English, so if I can learn to read and write in French, I'll be happy. I started with Latin, eight months ago, just for that reason, to read and write Latin, and I like Latin better than French, but, there are more resources available to learn French, so i just focus on French. With noone to speak with, I'll just have to learn to read and write well. I should be able to do it. Give me another year or so, i hope. I've found that learning both Latin and now only French (language learning), stimulates my mind like nothing else ever has. It's like being a kid again. I have a new language, and a new French World to explore; it makes sense that it has breathed a child like "joie de vivre," in me, and it really has. For fun, I learn French songs so now I think I might learn some French poems; i hate poetry in English, but for language learning, i think I'll like it. Merci pour les conceils practique.
