Optimal me wakes up in the dark, walks dog, makes tea and starts to-do list all before sun rise. Energy is full all day. I feel strongest in the early afternoon. Feel relaxed by sunset, and sleepy before 9pm

I will try this for 10 to 14 days. starting soon. I know that when I stay up too late, I hit pitta time, and I've grown to rely on pitta time to get things done. I slug around until evening, then get busy. I also committed to sleep 8 hours, no matter when I go to bed, so sometimes that means midday before I get going. because I have a long-distance, computer-based job, and am an empty nester, and my husband works out of state 5 days a week, I have no external schedule that guides my day.

Yeeeeeessssss!! I wish I could hug and love your comment because THIS IS SO MANY OF US!!! Right here. This is it. We stay up too late and slug around and then get busy/distracted and need to sleep longer in the morning. I totally get it! And yet THIS is where we will make our greatest change in our energy...this routine shift will do it. Please let me know how it goes, Sherie!! And GOOD JOB for trying it!

LOL! Thanks! I feel hugged! so... ok, HeyMonicaB, it is 9:44 pm. Just did a stretching video, my alarm is set for 6:15 am, and I am about to shut the lights out and listen to 15 minutes of meditative music. Had to look up when sunrise is for my area cuz I didn't know - that's how nocturnal I've become. Thanks for the challenge! Getting into bed helps me feel sleepy, too. Am yawning, at least. this is normally hours away from bedtime. Good night!

I am new to Ayerveda. I am working on building my daily routine but waking up early is by far the hardest. I am Pitta-Kapha and I’ve always struggled to get to bed before 2 but have proudly been able to make it sleep by 11 over the last several weeks. However, I still cannot seem to drag myself out of bed before 8 am

YEP. It's the hardest. And will also have the biggest benefit. Staying up until 2am is your pitta keeping you awake...check out the daily routine video for more details on why pitta is keeping you awake until 2! kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6Cydax7Zaxmo5o

Yep, that's me, too. And I've got a bunch of physical issues that are an impact now, because of 40 years of behaving that way. This winter I've really let myself have NO schedule, but the novelty has worn off and I've been feeling that I have to fix it. But the late night energy is an addiction, and hard to let go of. I woke up at 6:15 and did my morning stretching/meditating. Got up and did chores (fed animals, built fire, started laundry). I am not good at breakfast 1st thing, so had a satsuma and went on to do an hour of Physical Therapy. Had a real breakfast. I tend to feel sleepy and dull after meals, but that just lasted a few minutes today. I feel able to function already today, and it isn't noon yet. So, since the first morning has had good results, I'll do it again tomorrow. I have to go to town later and that is always exhausting for me. So we will see how that goes.

I tried doing this for a week, but I feel sluggish and sleepy in the afternoon and end up taking a nap. Is that a bad thing?

OK so how long before sunrise you recommend to wake up and what sort of activity should we engage in
@heymonicab5 жыл бұрын
The earlier the better (according to the ancient texts) but for us daily folks, even 15 minutes will do the trick! As far as routine...exercise, meditation, journal, shower... That's how you kick off a great day!

I am not sure I can do this. I am not a morning person. I have more energy in the evening and at night!
