That back arch is so amazing to me. I always wanted to be a high jumper. I was fast and had good leg strength. I was a good long jumper and set a school record in the triple jump. But my back was always so flat in the high jump. My coach used to get so frustrated. Arch your back, hed say. Just wouldn't happen.

As a high jumper myself, one thing that helps me with my arch is when you jump, look over your shoulder, and that would naturally bring your hips up. Hope that makes sense!

Not everyone arches a ton. It can help a ton and a lot do. But look at drouin. One of the best to do it he doesn't have a big arch at all

@@gabrieldent929 any tips for high jumping ? i got my first meet tomorrow and i’m kinda nervous.
@David-km2ie2 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem. The solution was to go back to the source, my body positition at takeoff. I leaned a bit forward which somehow prevented me from arching my back over the bar

Every time we did high jump in school, I’d be the only one with an adequate technique. I’ve always been very short so being at this disadvantage I developed my own way of doing this technique. I recently did 1.30 at 1.60 in height and hurt my back the second time I tried. (the first was successful) I couldn’t even make it over the 1.5 bar after that. But today I jumped 1.15 again and got rid of my phobia. I do wish I could take up competitive high jump, but I lack talent and height. So… yay me.

I'm doing atlethics in school at the moment. My class did high jump today, and i did alright, but next week we are going to jump over a meter. I know this doesn't seem much, but for us children, it is. Especially me, because i am very short and i'm only 4'9. Does anyone have any tips for me!? Wish me luck :)

@@siro_8603 I got 3 attempts for making the 1 meter. The first two attempts were a big failure, but as i was doing my 3rd attempt i made it, but the bottom of my shoe touched the pole and knocked it down. Technically i made it.

Me and my friends we're messing around with high jump and started the bar at 4" 2 then gradually went up bc most of us their where either 5" 6 or 5" 11 the people that actually did high jump that were there were 6" and 6" 3
