Colin i did listen with my headphones on and personally the 705 speaker was crisp and had a better tone , especially on CW. In my opinion absolutely no need for a BT Speaker

Its good that we all have our own opinion or the world will be a boring place. My wireless mic wont be picking up what my ears do so hard to show fully on YT. I do however agree for CW the 705 audios is better, again thats subjective. Otherwise I just find the 705 "thinner" sounding.

I bought one for my IC705 after watching your video sounds a lot better than radio which I found distorted when turning up the volume. Sounds clear on SSB I can make stations out better with this speaker 👍 73 M7GHW

Thanks for sharing, ssb was same for me, cw definitely the rig, but I've got old ears hi so I always use headphones. Problem here is neighbors use speakers outside all the time, we never get to sit in a quiet garden ever anymore, because of the bloody music.

I tried the JBL Go 3 and 4 and both would not connect to the 705.

My KX3 is renowned for under powered audio (KX2 is better), after 11 years I use a mixture of plugging in an external speaker, use headphones or run barefoot. KX3 has no BT capability, we all have our crosses to bear 😜 Thanks for posting Colin always good to see useful bits of kit.

@@MM0OPXFieldRadio not so long ago you could, seems that Elecraft has more than it can cope with by serving the U.S. market. Waters & Stanton were the UK supplier and I do’t know why that ended. Love Elecraft great customer orientated company but expensive!

I wonder if its because Waters and Stanton only exist in name now? I know Elecraft have a dealer in Switzerland but importing to the UK from there is even more expensive I think.

I last year I had the sale idea as you and I got a huge Bluetooth speaker from Banggood (Blitzwolf bw-wa3 pro 120w) not initially meant for use with HAM radio but have found it to be wonderful for Anytone 878 DMR, X6100 or FT0857d using bluetooth or cable - it has a "voice EQ profile" which makes it even better for HAM use. The one I have isn't cheap but damn good and has a HUGE Lithium battery for running phone/radio from too.

Hard to tell on Cw. Definitely better on voice. I have the jbl mentioned above and it’s hit or miss depending on the radio. K3 it works well but sounds like garbage on the kx2. Using just 3.5mm connections. Maybe I’m doing something wrong most likely

Agree, CW probably better on 705. So subjective though.

Just so happens I was looking for help to sort this out. Can you help creating a detailed list of for every item of junk you can see in the video and detail why its junk? I look forward to seeing this so I can sort out the garage properly.
