Have you heard of a chew stick? It is one of the best ways to clean your mouth and is proven to be just as effective as using a toothbrush and even more effective at removing and reducing plaque buildup. Here is a quick video on how to use chew sticks and the benefits of chew sticks for humans.

When I was a little kid in England (1960’s), we used to chew what we called Spanish wood. I didn’t know about using it for oral hygiene, I just knew I loved the taste, as well as the experience of chewing it. One day it disappeared from sale. I’m not exaggerating when I say I was devastated! Fast forward 50 years or so and it occurred to me that I could use the internet to find out what it was and hopefully buy some. It turns out it was liquorice root! I ordered a kilo of it and I now chew it every day! I’m so happy to learn from you that it’s also helping my oral hygiene, thank you 😊

Hi! What an amazing story! We are from the South, and my grandmother used to use chew sticks as well. When she passed, she had all her teeth and in good shape! It is great for oral hygiene, and I enjoy it as well. It is a recent discovery for me, but. I'm glad I did. Especially when traveling or in a car after a meal. It is great to have!

@ Tina Holt I’m glad you made this post because back in the day I purchased some from an African festival and I haven’t been able to find them either and they did taste like licorice, I’m going to try the internet also. I didn’t scrape the bark off mine 😂. Thanks again Blessings 💚💜

@@QueenGail hi Gail, I don’t scrape the bark off either, I like them just the way they are 😊. I find it very comforting to chew; I guess they remind me of a more innocent time. They also helped me to give up smoking 😂

@Tina Holt I agree with you and Gail about keeping the bark on. For some, it is a turnoff... but I find it tasty either way! If you are interested in ordering. I do offer it on my site as well. See link below. 😊 moore-life.com/wellness-store/ols/products/african-chew-sticks-1-oz

I bought some of these and still have them. Recommendation to anyone considering this. Get the flavored ones. I went all natural with mines. Also have a container or some place where you can store in water and it won't be disturbed. It takes some maintenance to maintain them once you start using.
@kendramoorelife
@kendramoorelife Жыл бұрын
Oh that interesting regarding the maintenance. I cut the ends off after each use. How do you maintain them? I love the natural one, likely because this is licorice root, so it has a hint of flavor. Which do you have? By that I mean, type of stick...

In West Africa, one of the chewing sticks is called orin ata (Yoruba). It’s warm and spicy when chewed and produces a somewhat numbing effect in the mouth. The medicinal and healing properties are phenomenal. There’s an abundance of saliva produced when chewing which spreads the antibacterial properties beyond the mouth. It takes some getting used to, but definitely worth a try… that is if you can get your hands on some!

I love reading this! Thank you for commenting! Yes, most here in the U.S. are unaware of its benefits and effectiveness. My grandmother used to use a chewing stick and she had amazing teeth! Not one removed when she passed in her late 80s! I use the licorice sticks. Those are tasty as well. I offer them on my website. A natural one (my favorite) and Peppermint flavored. In case you are interested or know someone who is you can find them at www.moore-life.com. Thank you for watching and commenting! 🙏🏾🙌🏾❤️

Hi Kendra can i say thank you not just for introducing this effective looking product which i will see if i can find in UK (floss i dont get on with and picks only do so much) but for demonstrating in your own mouth how to use it - a lot of oral health videos lack a 'real person' demo. Thank you 🙏🏼 Your lipstick stayed impressively in tact but hey even if it didn't, that can be fixed in a few minutes. Decayed teeth are there for life unless one is rich. Have a lovely day

@kendramoorelife
@kendramoorelife Жыл бұрын
You are most welcome! There are at least 20 different trees and shrubs that can be used. Additional benefits such as types of vitamins and minerals absorbed during the process will come from the species of the stick. You will have to internet search for that particular tree to be sure, but it sounds like a winner. Just in case, I also have them on my website. I offer unflavored licorice root: www.moore-life.com In the meantime, I hope you can use your trees. Spice trees sound amazing!!
