Does coffee make periodontal issues worse? I know it's irritating to the sensitive teeth. But will the coffee make it worse faster?
@EvolveDentalHealing7 ай бұрын
Coffee is acidic and dehydrates you so that will impact the mouth directly. Caffeine intake spikes cortisol levels which weakens the immune response and ability to repair. Can strip you of minerals too.

@EvolveDentalHealing yes I recently read In healing gums naturally that it can strip me of minerals. I have suffered with severe misaligned jaw bones and jaw clenching clenching for 12 years. 7 years no night guard, and it's all coming down on me. Hello Dr. Rachel, I am so very grateful that my quest for healing my gums brought me to you in this video. For the past year I have been "all worked out" by my dentist and 4 months ago, she told me that she was going to pass my case to the periodontist in their dental office. I have all my teeth but I do have some gum recession, although no bleeding and no sensitivity. Since I am 69 years old and live from my retirement pension I, of course, count and measure every penny that is asked from me. So, I told my dentist that I could not afford the treatment and said goodbye. Since then, I have been researching this issue of the receding gums and I have trashed the tooth paste and the mouth wash and the toothbrush that I had and got an electric toothbrush with medium head and I brush my teeth with a mix that I do with coconut oil and pulverized cloves. I do the oil pulling at night and then I wash it with salted water and then I swish with half a teaspoon of pure Xilitol. My gums are looking prettier and my teeth feel smoother after one month doing this. Please excuse me for this very long comment, but I would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions about my "method". Thank you very much in advance and best regards!

I took your advice from a couple years ago and clean teeth every 12 hours. Also, I started using cotton balls instead of a brush. Thymol (cumin) in mouthwash and also, ( add a dropper full of oregano oil to the container) It is very effective. L-Lysine powder from a capsule, mix it in a little water, can tighten the gums over time. No more recession, no pockets, and what helps too, avoid cane sugar. You know, when you can rub your teeth with some saturated cotten balls, you'll clean all the plaque off the teeth.

Thank you so much for your clarity and advice. I have some 9-11mm pockets, and my oral care and the hygienist deep cleaning (inc GBT) is not clearing the deeper infection in the pockets especially at the top front where I have 65% bone loss. My dentist wants to remove 11 teeth (inc 3 wisdom teeth, the top front teeth and some of the lower teeth) in order to "turn the tap off" on the infection and trying to save the other teeth I have left. I know that there are spirochetes and entamoeba in the gums from a sample taken by the biological dentist. I am feeling quite depressed by it all. I am following your advice with the gum brushing, doing oil pulling, salt water rinsing, interdental brushes, trying to get the bristles up the gums to clean with natural toothpastes and powders. I am wondering how I can clear the infection as much as possible from deep in the pockets without taking antibiotics..... Another dentist suggested periochips which dissolve in the gums- do you think there is a case for this in severe gum disease such as mine? And do you think I should agree to the extractions? He will then use a laser to clean and then try to regenerate bone and gum, to place hopefully 100% zirconia implants. Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

I am 68 and never had receding gums until I reached my sixties and developed gum recession, assuming it might be an age thing. I would love them to regrow but the consensus appears to be it is not possible. I have 5 crowns now as my teeth have been filled to death which was a common practice in the sixties. I do realise that gum recession as mentioned can cause bacteria to get in and cause decay which I now have in one small tooth. It is near the nerve so I can see another crown soon. I can see where my gums have receded and sometimes a bad taste in my mouth I feel like is coming from my gums. Getting teeth cleaned in December and then will contact TMJ dentist to see if we can work on getting back into my night guards. It is awful that Medicare doesn’t pay for TMJ issues as far as I know. Can you comment on hypothyroidism and gum disease. Thanks.
@EvolveDentalHealing5 ай бұрын
There's a connection between hypothyroidism, an underactive thyroid gland, and gum disease. Hypothyroidism: When the thyroid doesn't produce enough hormones, it affects many bodily functions. Gum disease: Inflammation of the gums that damages supporting tissues and bone, potentially leading to tooth loss. How Hypothyroidism Affects Gums: Immune system: Hypothyroidism can weaken your body's defence against gum disease-causing bacteria. Healing: Slower healing from mouth sores in people with hypothyroidism can worsen gum disease. Dry mouth: Hypothyroidism can cause dry mouth, increasing the risk of cavities and gum disease due to reduced saliva washing away bacteria. Having hypothyroidism doesn't guarantee gum disease, but it's a risk factor.

someone asked about testosterone - I can't find the question but will post a comment here and hopefully it'll get seen: Testosterone levels can have a significant impact on gum health, both positively and negatively. Here's what you need to know: Positive Impact: Bone Density: Testosterone helps maintain bone density, which is crucial for supporting the teeth and gums. Low testosterone levels can lead to bone loss, increasing the risk of gum disease and tooth loss. Immune Function: Testosterone plays a role in regulating the immune system. Adequate testosterone levels can help your body fight off infections, including those that affect the gums. Negative Impact: Hormonal Imbalance: Too much testosterone can lead to hormonal imbalances that may contribute to gum inflammation and disease. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT): Testosterone is converted into DHT, a hormone that can damage the tissues supporting the teeth and gums. This can increase the risk of gum disease and tooth loss. Maintain Healthy Testosterone Levels: It's important to maintain healthy testosterone levels within the normal range for your age and sex. This can help promote optimal gum health.

As you explain, receding gum could be caused by teeth grinding. In this case, massaging gum technique might not help to regrow the gum because of the pre-existing teeth grinding. Also, massaging with a toothbrush is not easy as there is not much wiggle room between the gum the interior wall of the mouth. Perhaps, using figures might work wonder like a precision tool.

Hi Dr. I have had 2 gum grafts. One at 30 & another at 40 y/o. I go to the dentist every 4 mins, floss, water floss, proxy brush during the day. I still have a lot of recession & bone loss- straight teeth & no cavities. Wear a special night guard too. It's a bummer. My dentist suggested lanap surgery this week. What are your thoughts? I was looking into red light devices for the mouth to see if they help regenerate gums. Idk if you know about this

I live in Australia as well in which one of the American dentist I have listened to states Nano is better due to the absorptions which is really for anything we consume. It is difficult to get the nano toothpaste as American dollars conversion. Website," house of mouth" they may sell it plus they sell xylitol gum etc. Moo Goo non fluoride toothpaste has 5% hydroxyapatite. I dont know how much the teeth need of hydroxyapatite, maybe 20%? Mouth needs minerals as well so I use fulvic and humic minerals. Put this in my water and also put a few drops in my mouth swish around and then brush my teeth. I have been opening a capsule of probiotics specifically for gums and teeth swishing probiotic with a tad of water around my mouth after brushing. I am using biotene mouthwash and use that after each meal due to the pH and xylitol.

Dr Rachel, at time stamp 5.53 you mentioned about bone regenerations proteins and laser treatment that can be put into those spaces.. I have 2 root canals teeth that are joined together for maybe 30 years (with some metals in there). I am planning to have them replaced with 2 individual ceramic crowns . What are ways can I have the bone regenerations in there to make the teeth more stable ? I had mentioned lanap lapip laser with my dentist but he said it will not work bc I do not have any tooth beside the 2 teeth and lanap lapip will not work to regenerate more bone density. What laser treatment and bone regeneration proteins were you referring to at time stamp 5:53 ? Thank you.

Yes LANAP - get a referral to a periodontist for a second opinion www.lanapaustralia.com.au/
@kimdiedrich97125 ай бұрын
Try to find a more functional periodontist by calling those type of Dentists and ask who they use or maybe there is a Perio finder to use. Google bone grafting and read about the 4 different types. They use grafts for securing the tooth implants to replace teeth, but if you are sensitive, it may be a risk for reactions. I had the cadaver with chemical cleansing and my own blood used to make healing faster. I was getting somewhat better after supplementation for what I now assume was mineral & vitamin deficiencies due to the heavy metals. I had something similar to "thyroid storm" with a severe reaction. The periodontist had to reopen the graft area and scrape it out as best he could & then I was better immediately. There is cadaver with chemical; cadaver with radiation, synthetic, and one more I forget, lol. Look it up online. They probably use grafting for the question you ask. There is something called an OSR Miner sheet that says what the material is.

Good evening, when you say Eucalyptus oil, are you referring to "essential oil ” ? If yes, which one can be use for as there are many different one like, Ecalyptus radiata, globulus and so on? Last question, can we mix one drop in coconot oil for oil pulling? As for rincing mouth i use cloves, 10 gloves that i let soak in water and i use it for rincing my mouth after brushing my teeth, and month ago i’ve started massaging too. I have receding gums too. Thank you for the video. From france.
@EvolveDentalHealingАй бұрын
Yes, correct I am referring to essential oil. Here are some things to consider when choosing a eucalyptus oil for your gums: Purity: Look for pure, 100% eucalyptus oil. Avoid products that contain fillers, additives, or other essential oils. Type of eucalyptus: There are many different types of eucalyptus trees, and each produces a slightly different oil. Some of the most common types used in oral care include Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus radiata, and Eucalyptus dives. Concentration: Eucalyptus oil can be irritating to the skin and mucous membranes in high concentrations. It is important to dilute it properly before applying it to your gums. A general rule of thumb is to use no more than 1 drop of eucalyptus oil per teaspoon of carrier oil (such as coconut oil or olive oil).
@EvolveDentalHealingАй бұрын
Here are some of the benefits of using eucalyptus oil on your gums: Antibacterial: Eucalyptus oil has strong antibacterial properties that can help kill bacteria that cause gum disease. Anti-inflammatory: Eucalyptus oil can help reduce inflammation in the gums, which can help relieve pain and swelling. Anesthetic: Eucalyptus oil has mild anesthetic properties that can help numb the gums and relieve pain. However, it is important to note that eucalyptus oil can be toxic if ingested. Always use it with caution and avoid swallowing it. If you experience any adverse reactions, such as burning, stinging, or irritation, discontinue use and rinse your mouth with water.

This is in Perio plus products. If u don't want chlorhexidine maybe to research the other ingredients. I do know research is there for benefits of all other products. I can personally say perio plus works for me, but I was told not to take it all the time. I think this is due to the chlorhexidine staining teeth. I use it on my teeth brushes cleaning between teeth and gee it helps. Also, I use a probiotic specifically for gums and teeth. One strain is L- Reuteri, this is also a proven strain. My oral health was probably not the best back then. Afterwards, the pain went away and everything appeared stable. But now, eleven years later, the swelling is still there and my upper gums have been receding at a high rate in the past year and I have developed some new swellings plus an infection in my mouth and on my tongue. My oral hygiene is actually great now and I don’t eat many carbohydrates. My lower gums are completely fine. I’m sick and tired of hearing my dentist say that there’s nothing wrong and that I might be brushing too vigorously when I know that I don’t! I’m in my twenties.
