Great video. Could you elaborate on the 1 3/4" od pole? What kind of pole (emt, galvanized water, etc) I'm curious about the id because of the way it fits perfectly on the Starlink stub.
@AllMediaServices12 жыл бұрын
Hey Klj, it is a galvanized pole that was 1 1/2” inside diameter. We have used 1 3/4” as well, we used some sealant pads to take up the extra space between the pole and the Dishy mount. I like the 1 3/4” a bit better as it is a little bit more rigid then the 1 1/2”.

I did something similar except not as nice looking hahaha, I mounted a treated 16' 4x4 to the side of my shipping container with deck anchor brackets and used a Starlink wall mount at the top. total is about 17' high but its good enough

Hey that works too! We’ve seen some pretty inventive setups to acquire a signal 😁

It would have been helpful if you had done before and after speed tests.

That’s what I was waiting for…

It's not as much about the speed as it is the blockage which causes disconnects and lag at times as the satellites are moving by.

What is the specific name for those tripod arms. I cannot find them anywhere.
@AllMediaServices12 жыл бұрын
Hey Micheal, these arms came in a couple of kits we had. There from older satellite mounts, there a little hard to come by on there own but I have seen them on Amazon sold with the J-arm. Another solution for is the old HughesNet and Xplorernet large dishes…they have trio-pod arms that work with the smaller j-arms with minor mods(done with a pair of pliers) and work great!

Hi I live on the top floor of a condo. Would I be able to mount the dish on my balcony?
@AllMediaServices12 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately Starlink requires a 360 degree field of view to function at full capacity. If you were able to make an extension off of your balcony above the roofline then in theory you could make that work. I’m sure landlord approval would be the biggest hurdle though! We have installed satellite TV dishes to the roof of apartment buildings, condos, etc and ran the cabling from that point into the customers unit.

I'm curious how perfectly stable the pole needs to be / I already have a tower for my current weak wifi receiver.....but it's perhaps too tall....and the top does waver in a slight wind
@MrCarl3122 жыл бұрын
You can use cable ties to take the pressure off the cable.
@ryn19862 жыл бұрын
I was just going to say... that anchor bolt is pressing right on the cable. Yikes!

where did you got the pole? is just common conduit?
@AllMediaServices12 жыл бұрын
Hey Jesus, it’s a standard galvanized fencing pole. 1 3/4 inch diameter. You can pick them up at most hardware stores.

What is the round bracket on the pole called?
@AllMediaServices1 Жыл бұрын
A ring clamp I believe.. We got the stand-off arms with the clamp from an old satellite internet system.

Why not just put a new mount up on the roof for the cx? Would have beat all the mucking around with poles n holes.
@AllMediaServices12 жыл бұрын
For sure that would’ve been easier, but this place is a rental and they’re not allowed to mount anything on the roof.
