This is excellent. My difficulty with CVT and modes is in all the ”musts”. Like your jaw must go down and back, the larynx must rise with pitch, you must use vowels the right way. And I end up rigidly trying to follow all the musts with the result that my tone is also rigid :D These tips really help me to regain a sense of where my voice is, thanks!

@15:30 I'm all for the return of the Sinatras and Nat King Coles. The affected pop tenor sound really has run its course.

Performative immaturity seems inherent to the pop tenor sound. Granted I'm still a junkie for high notes, but I'm rather partial to a more mature style of belting a la Steve Perry or Michael Ball, or, for lighter singing, an approach similar to Josh Kiszka or Mitch Grassi, both of whom manage to sound mature even at a very high tessitura, because their singing is androgynous rather than puerile.

When opening the mouth, it feels normal but at some point it just starts feeling unusual and uncomfortable, and it is quite far from how open yours tends to be, the jaw isn't protruding either Is opening wider especially when singing something that will get more comfortable as you do it more or is there something wrong? Also it is really hard to do the smile when the mouth is quite wide : - :

The jaw should be slightly protracted; otherwise it will not open fully. You can practise with a mirror: slightly protrude the jaw, then lower it, and make sure to retain the protraction in the jaw socket as you close it.
